Human Resources
Talent reviews, succession planning, internal movement, and strategic workforce planning - it's what most companies would call "traditional" talent management. Except, how we build and implement it at Shopify will be anything but traditional.

We're building a Talent Management system that is simple, data-informed, and most importantly human-centred. It's a really interesting problem to solve and a big responsibility - we want Shopifolk to be increasing their collective impact over time so that we can build towards being a 100 year company.

We're looking for someone with a strong research background in human systems, behavioural science and org psychology that is excited about translating knowledge into innovative programs that tackle real challenges in new ways. Specifically , we're looking for someone with experience building strong partnerships with Talent Business Partners and senior leadership to support organizational and program diagnostic efforts, build team effectiveness and deliver org design solutions. We want to use your knowledge and your creative energy to help build new tools, programs, and rituals that feel innovative in their design, and distinctly Shopify in their execution.

In This Role You Will:
  • Help design, build, implement, and sustain our Talent Management system in collaboration with fellow team members
  • Collaborate to build and deliver an internal consultancy service in organizational design and development that offers support to both Business Partners and teams across Shopify
  • Understand how talent management is executed at other companies; what works, what doesn't, where the future is trending, and what will land at Shopify
  • Liaise with Talent Business Partners to identify system needs and advise on the use of existing Talent Management systems
  • Partner with Talent Research and Insights to create customized solutions for senior leaders that address emerging organizational and team effectiveness needs
  • Connect the dots between each Talent Management offering so it's clear how our end to end system connects all of the pieces into a simple and strategic experience for Shopifolk
  • Work with People Analytics, Learning Acceleration, Talent Technology and third-party vendors to improve insights and tooling for all Shopifolk
  • Flex and work across other areas of Talent Development, as needed

This might be the right role for you if:
  • You have an educational background in organizational psychology, organizational design, human systems, human factors psychology, group dynamics, behavioural science, organizational behaviour, or Talent Management
  • You nerd out on human behaviour - what motivates people, what makes high performing teams, and how people grow over time
  • You have experience delivering and designing Talent Management programs and understand the challenges of scale and the complexity of managing global programs
  • You enjoy troubleshooting challenges, being part of a dynamic team, and finding solutions that work for everyone
  • You pay attention to the details, but are also able to zoom out to see the big picture
  • You're mega organized and love projects - spreadsheets, project management, and deadlines are your jam
  • You're willing to dive into challenging conversations with the goal of improving working relationships
  • You're knowledgeable about software and how to use tools to create delightful user experiences

It's nice if you also have
  • Experience applying academic knowledge to new program designs)
  • Knowledge of HR software tools and systems

To apply please include a cover letter and resume, and tell us about an experience you've had with designing and/or delivering Talent Management programs. Bonus points if it's related to organizational design/development or team effectiveness.

Closing date:Friday, November 27at 11:59PM EST Successful candidates can expect to hear back from us by Friday, December 10at 5:00PM EST.
