Our Indigenous Entrepreneurs team at Shopify focuses on identifying opportunities with groups and organizations who represent communities of aspiring entrepreneurs & SMB's looking for meaningful strategies to support business owners.This team identifies & launches programs to ultimately drive new indigenous merchants acquisition and grow our existing merchant base.

We're looking for someone to represent Shopify through external partnerships with groups and organizations relevant to the Indigenous identifying entrepreneurship community and lead a team of internal Community Managers to grow our community of Indigenous identifying entrepreneurs and merchants.

In this role you will lead and guide the creation of online education and always on programming which will help us to build a community of Indigenous entrepreneurs around the world with a primary focus on North America and APAC regions. There is so much that goes into a successful business and we want to make sure that Indigenous entrepreneurs are taking full advantage of the platform and the Shopify ecosystem of Apps and Partners so that their businesses flourish within their various markets.

This role will require that you be at ease with partnership and sponsorship negotiations, public speaking, educational program development and e-learning. You should also possess business, technical, social media skills and be product savvy in order to advise merchants through everyday business decisions. You should have experience developing lifecycle marketing strategies that promote successful programming.

As a member of this team you will support a wide range of priorities, including research, vetting, and activation of opportunities for business development across a variety of sectors including government, non-profit organizations, small business associations and private companies.

You'll work on business development planning, education and co-marketing initiatives with new partners. You will own program and project management, including team deliverables between Shopify & partners, program launch, iteration, and reporting. Part of the role will require you to help partners achieve their goals whilst keeping them on track to meet our program requirements, delivery standards and make strategic decisions as to the optimal program touch points for their audience.

Responsibilities:
  • Creating and executing programs that support Indigenous entrepreneurs
  • Developing go to market strategies that reflect regional nuances in the Indigenous experience across North America and APAC regions
  • Research organizations and associations in the assigned geography, vertical or demographic category for prospective partners
  • Be able to understand and communicate to prospective partners the competitive strengths and opportunity size of proposals to align with our mission
  • Managing a pipeline of partnership opportunities and working alongside the Shopify Go team to vet partnerships
  • Creating a joint value proposition for each partner and identifying the right program elements relevant to their particular audience
  • Work with marketing, legal, finance, leadership, and product teams across the organization to identify workflow required to launch a mutually beneficial program
  • Propose potential programs by discovering and exploring opportunities with existing partners


Qualifications

  • You excel at establishing and growing mutually beneficial businessrelationships
  • The ability to thrive in chaos, resolve ambiguity and think quickly on your feet.
  • Project management, excellent communication, and strong organization skills.
  • 5 plus years experience in partnerships and/or sales, including sponsorships
  • Great business development skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Strong understanding of developing marketing plans
  • Can work well as part of a team and as an individual contributor
  • Experience using data and analytics to measure the impact of your work.
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities in North America

It'd be great if you also had:
  • Experience working in the tech space or another high-paced industry- it's important to understand our platform and the products we deliver.
  • B2B event marketing experience with a focus on enabling sales teams to reach lead goals.
  • A "get shit done" attitude.
  • A ruthless attention to detail.
  • Highly organized
  • Experience using Google Office Suite and Slack
  • Experience managing a team
