As a Lead - Program Management (f/m/d) you will drive initiatives from end to end, using your multidisciplinary expertise in business, product, and tech to define scope, manage risk, and ensure quality.

You are a self-starter and can work autonomously to manage schedule, resourcing, and scope, and are a custodian of alignment, both vertical and horizontal. You have exemplary communication and stakeholder management skills. Furthermore, you are a true project management aficionado: you will mentor and support other project managers both within and outside of Zalando Direct, function as a program management team lead, help refine ways of working, and be a vocal, visible contributor to the community of practice.
  • This is a senior, business-centric program management role in which you will lead and be accountable for the most complex programs and projects end-to-end, and assess, analyse, and consult on broader business goals, risks, constraints, and dependencies in structuring these highly complex initiatives.
  • You will lead, inspire and mentor a team of Project and Program Managers in an effort to both support their growth as well as achieve the highest levels of quality and success.
  • In setting up projects and programs, you will contribute to defining which problems the business wants to solve, helping support the design of solutions, risk assessment, and provide perspective on business impact. You will have a view on project resourcing in terms of existing and future commitments.
  • Raise the bar: You get things done, and also can constructively challenge the status quo. You are able to quickly identify critical success factors and provide clarity to sponsors and stakeholders alike. You are able to adjust your approach for each project and can exercise your program and leadership skills as if you were an in-house consultant, business analyst, or product owner.
  • You are a natural communicator (written and spoken), an active listener, and exhibit strong situational leadership. Using your refined soft skills, you can autonomously find and engage the right people to support delivery of programs and projects on time, scope, quality, priority, and with respect to risk management and resource constraints.
  • You quickly establish and care for stakeholder relationships. You can steer stakeholders and sponsors with data-driven recommendations, often thinking two steps ahead, and are able to persuade and challenge assumptions based on due diligence from the initiative. You are solutions-driven, know how to manage disagreements constructively, and will leave your ego at the door.
  • You will be able to take on additional leadership duties and support the program management leadership team.

  • You have at least 5 years of end-to-end project and program management experience of progressively more complex projects and programs. You have managed the delivery of complex, cross-functional projects across business, technology, and digital products, with agile teams and in traditional project management environments.

  • You collaborate closely with high-level Sponsors to define problems, business requirements, priority, acceptance criteria, performance standards, and establish goals for complex programs that involve multi-disciplinary teams across multiple business units.
  • You will be a go-to resource & consultant on programs and projects you do not own, and act as project management and business impact expert within our Business Unit. You will be a leading figure in the project management community of practice to help evolve and support our scalable growth.
  • You work at all functional levels within the organization, such as Product, Design, Engineering, and/or other relevant functions and stakeholders.
  • You collect and analyse requirements and dependencies to validate the most relevant scope in order to achieve the defined objectives of a program and its relevant projects in the most efficient and effective way. You define how to implement and further validate the overall solution. You focus on quality and consistency in project management and help evolve the standards.
  • You are a highly-motivated, self-starting team player, and an expert in managing priorities and constructively managing conflict with functional teams, product owners, and other stakeholders. You are fully accountable for your tasks, and work in an independent and structured manner.
  • Together with your team members you seek to continuously improve project management practices. You are an innovator by heart and are able to assimilate and advocate for better ways of working. You are able to put new tools and concepts into practice in a diverse, growing organization.
