JOB SUMMARY

Tory Burch Data and Services organization is at the core of Tory Burch Technology and is pivotal to the customer experience. The Tory Burch data team designs, develops and maintains applications and services that support all of Data Engineering and Analytics business needs to drive Omni channel experiences. Data & Analytics is a strategic focus area for the company.
We have an exciting opportunity for a "hands on" data driven engineering leader who enjoys the challenge of working with a highly collaborative cross functional team with responsibilities that are pivotal to the Tory Burch customer experience and improving systems reliability. This role includes two main responsibilities viz. Customer platform engineering and Site reliability engineering. The team builds and enhances all customer centric business critical Information services that offers a 360-degree view of the customer. This provides Tory Burch with the ability to provide a hyper personalized relevant experience across all customer touchpoints both online & in-store.
In this role you will lead engineering teams for Tory Burch Customer Technology. The incumbent will drive engineering teams to implement integrated Tory Burch Customer Data Platform. The incumbent must have a strong focus on understanding business expectations and requirements, set a high bar for themselves, like to solve problems, and demonstrate tenacity when developing and instituting new processes and influencing adoption across technology and business.

JOB DESCRIPTION

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the engineering team responsible for the implementation and support of data ingestion, data processing, and data pipelines.
  • Support the long-term organizational goal to become a data driven organization.
  • Build and manage a high performing team across geographical locations.
  • Participate in key technical and design discussions with technical leads in the team as a hands-on manager.
  • Incrementally build out Customer data platform leveraging organizational vision & strategy.
  • Provide reference implementation for different data access patterns viz. programmatic access, SQL access, BI self-service access.
  • Empower teams to be accountable for decisions through clear definition of boundaries/areas of ownership for decisions.
  • Manages a portfolio of services/projects, the intake of new requests, their roadmaps and works closely with product management to deliver business results.
  • Designing high-level schematics of the infrastructure, tools, and processes needed.
  • Performing an in-depth analysis of the possible risks and countermeasures for them.
  • Calculating the potential cost of outages and planning for contingency.
  • Preparing input for infrastructure/tooling/workflow updates across the organization.
  • Developing best practices and guidelines to improve overall system reliability.
  • Educating the Dev and Ops (or DevOps) teams to follow the guidelines and best practices to minimize the number of errors and incidents.
  • Manages simulation & load testing for critical applications and preparation for scaled events readiness

EDUCATION & PRIOR EXPERIENCE NEEDED
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required
  • In-depth hands-on experience building micro services at scale using node.js, go lang or Java.
  • Experience with distributed systems such as NoSQL databases, distributed cache etc.
  • Good understanding of DevOps concepts and best practices
  • CI/CD implementation expertise
  • Extensive experience designing data integration using streaming, services/API, ETL methods.
  • 5+ Years' experience of leading teams as a people manager with a demonstrated ability to hiring and growing engineers.
  • Experience in GCP/Azure or other equivalent cloud stack.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and communication skills.
