As Senior Sales Manager - Germany (m/w/d), you will own and drive the growth of the Connected Retail network. You will penetrate fast and win big across the country, as you close deals with brands and retailers signing up their stores so that they can sell and ship products to customers via our platform. You are part of one of the most innovative Zalando teams, reinventing retail: Online-to-Offline.
  • Win fast and big. you will drive the strategy and the 360° sales cycle for winning deals with multilabel / lighthouse retailers or brands in DE with focus on South DE. Focus on the key players in different sectors (i.e.: Fashion apparel, Sportswear, Kidswear or Footwear.) You will develop an effective acquisition and lead conversion strategy that maximizes rapid growth while building a consistently strong sales pipeline, targeting the right customer segments.
  • Build trust. Seize opportunities to understand the needs of the retailers and find the right tone and empathy to successfully bring online and offline together. Develop new sales partnerships to accelerate growth. You have a deep understanding of the realities of the fashion sector and can leverage this to create compelling propositions. You bring a strong network of contacts from the fashion and functional sportswear sectors preferably at C- level and you can constantly leverage and develop your brand and retail contacts to maximise opportunities.
  • Close the deal. Support the conversion of these opportunities through the creation and delivery of presentations, conducting compelling sales pitches, webinars and negotiations. You have the end-to-end responsibility from first contact to contract conclusion
  • Be our best evangelist. Promote Connected Retail within local retail industry events, trade associations and networks and be adept at turning these opportunities into acquisition growth opportunities
  • Own your success. You are in close contact with Connected Retail sales leadership who will challenge and support you to grow the network rapidly. You have a great deal of freedom in choosing strategies to achieve your goals and, if necessary, adjust your course as needed
This role is a key pillar leading our most mature market, with a clear mission to protect our success, while accelerating our path to even bigger successes:
  • 5 + years experience in the Sportswear or retail industry (e.g. fashion, lifestyle, beauty)
  • Expertise in platform (SaaS) and marketplace business, combining the delivery of strategic business planning, go-to-market planning with a proven track record of sales growth success
  • Sales affinity, goal orientation and leadership characterise you: Customer acquisition and the conversion of new prospects into a lead excites you. Our team is important to us, so not only are you a strong self-starter, you should also be the best team player
  • An agile mind, strong communication and negotiation skills are self-evident for you. Solid experience of developing strategic relationships and managing internal and external stakeholders, whilst working within cross functional teams, maintaining engagement and ensuring commercial momentum
  • A central source of knowledge about your market, you can share and educate others. You ensure that sales activities are insight-driven and decisions are fact based. You synthesise data quickly and apply this to improve lead conversion in each country through a combination of wisdom, foresight and experience

  • Excellent spoken and written German and English language skills
