Design Operations works together across the Design organization to define and facilitate standards in design culture, team development, ways of working and tooling, and overall design team governance. You’ll be a central contributor to helping the team develop a wide variety of initiatives.
You understand how the orchestration of people, process, and tools leads to better experiences and outcomes for teams and ultimately, our customers. You will join the Design Ops team with the primary objective of helping the Product Design community deliver high-quality work. To do this, you will partner with Design leads and business stakeholders to articulate design practices, iterate on processes, create guidelines and playbooks, define tooling needs and liaise with a number of support functions throughout the company. You will manage a range of improvement projects, and define the operational models that will create the greatest value for our customers.

Your excellent organisation skills â€" together with your understanding of the needs of designers, researchers and writers â€" enables you to manage multiple projects and have a structured approach to creating processes for an efficient environment. You do this with a mix of good communication skills, stakeholder empathy and a willingness to take ownership when dealing with constraints such as time, budget and business needs.

This role is ideally suited to an experienced Design Ops specialist seeking growth opportunities and ownership, a seasoned operations or program manager passionate about Product Design, or a design leader with Ops experience passionate about team culture and organisation.
  • Collaborate closely with design leadership and senior contributors to define, document, and operationalize processes. This includes defining and keeping up-to-date documentation of how the Design team works, as well as how to work with all disciplines of the team.
  • Measuring, implementing, or driving changes to make sure designers are working at optimum effectiveness, including refining the Ops roadmap of initiatives and leading change management efforts.
  • Evaluate and implement new tools with designers, writers, researchers, and cross-functional partners to solve for our growing need to collaborate holistically across the organisation.
  • Strong operational skills in planning, implementing, and measuring programs across organizations, with the ability to align with multiple stakeholders and individuals with varying priorities within and outside of the design community.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and influencing skills to drive cross-functional teams effectively.
  • Detail-oriented and strategic thinker who can apply frameworks to keep track of the many moving parts necessary for projects and teams to be successful.
  • Solid understanding of design, engineering, and product management processes and systems within an enterprise organization and/or direct work experience in a creative agency or consulting environment in a relevant role (relevant roles include Producer, Project/Program Manager, Creative Operations, or Design Operations).
  • Ideally experience creating Design Ops mechanisms and managing Design Operations at scale. Solid examples of leading Ops initiatives with positive qualitative and quantitative outcomes, e.g. related to advancing the design maturity of an organization, demonstrating the impact/ROI/value of design, and/or measuring the effectiveness of Ops programs.
