Position Description and responsibilities

The Designer Woven Boys in the Tommy Hilfiger Kids team is part of the design team and is responsible for designing and executing seasonal collections for the product categories Woven pants/Shirts/Denim. Our design team designs for an age range of 0-16-years.

The designer has a strong understanding of the product categories he/she is responsible for and works closely with Senior Designer and the developer handling that same category. The Key objective is to ensure creative commercial product ranges are designed and developed for the Kids division, in line with the Tommy Hilfiger brand identity. He/she will be reporting directly to the Senior Designer.

Key responsibilities
  • Researching trends that work into the Tommy Hilfiger Kids brand strategy, translating these into the collection on the direction of the Design Director
  • Translating the Woven & Denim trends into commercial collection working closely with the Senior Designer.
  • Working with the designers of the team to align the design aesthetics', seasonal details and the big ideas of the Creative Concept
  • Working to the Divisional Calendar to meet deadlines
  • Working closely and communicating daily with merchandise & product development team
  • Knowledge of different fabric qualities and wash techniques that fit the Tommy Hilfiger Kids aesthetic
  • Following up on all changes that relate to the product area/styles on a daily basis
  • Preparing all woven (including cads, pants, woven shirts, denims etc) worksheets for PLM system management
  • Working closely with Tech Department and PD for the fitting process and develop new shapes based on trend.
  • Responsible to follow up on selected fabrics each season with product developer
  • Supports and partners with product development to execute each style, making sure that the Tommy Hilfiger D.N.A. is seen in each garment.
  • Work well in a team environment utilising strong communication skills
  • Develop and understand product knowledge each season.
  • Keen interest in 3D design (Lotta & VStitcher) as the Tommy Hilfiger Kids Division is on a digital journey.

The Ideal Candidate
  • Experience: at least 3/5 year's experience in a fashion Design. With at least 3 year's experience within the kids area.
  • Skills: Strong use of Illustrator and Photoshop. Must be able to draw in Illustrator. Understanding of PowerPoint/keynote and Excel for specification work.
  • Knowledge of designing technical sketches.
  • Good understanding of constructions and materials.
  • Have a very good eye for fit and attention to details.
  • Organized, enthusiastic, easy to adapt and flexible with changes.
  • A fast and organized designer to cope with the fast pace of seasons.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, fluency in written and spoken English are a must.
  • 3D design programs Lotta & VStitcher are a plus.
  • Work independently as well as in a team and that you also enjoy working in a busy environment
  • Willingness to travel
  • Team player
