The Team
The Tommy Jeans division is one of the main business drivers within Tommy Hilfiger Europe. Based in the Amsterdam European HQ, the team is split into 4 sub teams: Design, Production, Sourcing & Development, Buying & Planning and Merchandising & Sales

These 4 teams work together in an informal setting to create quality products for the Global consumer base. Tommy Jeans presents 4 collections per year (Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter) alongside additional capsules and retail specials.

The Position:
The SeniorGraphic Designeris part of the Design Team forTommy Jeans apparel in Europe, reporting intotheSnr Art Director,andwill be working on thegraphic language of Tommy Jeans predominately the womens apparel.

TheSenior Graphic Designerhas a strong understanding ofgraphics and branding.

The Designerwillpartnerwith othermembers of theDesign Teamto create a cohesivegraphic languagealignedacrossour different lifestyles,withclear storytellingreflectingseasonal conceptideas.

TheDesigner has a strongknowledge of print techniqueswitha good understanding oftrends.

Thekey objective is to ensure creative commercial productthatisdesigned and developed for theTommy Jeansappareldivisionswhich isin line with the Tommy Jeansbrand identity.

Flexible to work on other areas when needed. Working within a small team of graphic designers and apparel design.

A strong understanding of the relation between graphics and apparel including focussed knowledge of worksheets and technical information.

The position is mostly focused on the Graphics t shirts as the main category with all other apparel categories connected.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Creating graphic design and branding for Tommy Jeans
  • Research andidentifytrends and techniquesthatalign withthe Tommy JeansAesthetic.
  • TranslateGlobal seasonalbrief into thedivisionswith creating strong graphical languageeveryseason.
  • Strong understanding ofgraphic techniques onWoven and Jerseyproducts.
  • Working to the Divisionalcalendar to meet deadlines.
  • Be able to work to a commercial Rangeplan each season, collaborating with the Merchandising team on best seller management,essential product and seasonal newness.
  • Preparation ofall sketches (2D & 3D) for divisional digital presentations andfocus on the follow up of each style.
  • Prepare all confirmed styles to be digitalized, withcleargarment worksheets and PLM completed to a high standard for sending to joint venture andglobalbuying offices.
  • Present seasonal graphic collections during collection reviews with clear information and technical knowledge.
  • Working closely anddailycommunicationon challenges and changes thatmightarise during the development of styles. Partner with the Product Developer to ensure a smooth workprocesseach season.
  • Involved in fittings and graphic submits, working with PD team and tech teams to make product perfect.
  • Ability to work across multiple apparel categories from Graphic T shirts to Outerwear and understanding the aesthetics needed.
  • Workcloselywith the Designteam to align design aesthetics, seasonal details and creative big ideas.
  • Great work ethic in a team environment, with theutilizationof strong communication skills.
  • Flexibility to changing demands and skills.
  • Whilst the role is focused for the Womens apparel we have a very diverse collection which has a large percentage of genderless graphics.
  • The position has a large administrative role for presentations and garment worksheet preparation.

The Ideal Candidate:
  • Bachelor Leveldegree (orequivalent) inGraphic Design.
  • Work experience: at least4-7years' experienceindevelopment ofgraphics and branding for apparel.
  • High level of understanding graphic prints and techniques, patterns and use of repeats
  • Skills:Strong knowledge in Adobe especially in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop. Experience using PLM systemsand CAD
  • Knowledge of 3DDesign (egBrowzwear/ Clo3D)
  • Open towork in3D Design and digital process.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills,fluentin written and spoken English are a must.
  • Experienceoftraveling to vendors for seasonal sourcing and development trips.
  • Creative with new ideas, withtheability to be creative withina commercial environment.
  • Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • A fast and organized designer to cope with the fast pace of seasons.
  • High level of attention to detail needed.
  • Creates partnership and able to work within a team with a number of personalities
  • Understanding that the requirements of position are creative and administrative combined.
