Proenza Schouler is looking for a Freelance Design + Development Coordinator for its Mainline Handbag division.  This freelance position would start on March 1st, 2022 and would be for 3-4 months.

Description:

  • Support the Proenza Schouler Mainline Handbags department as it relates to product development
  • Provide design-related assistance the Creative Director and Design Consultant 
  • Additional cross-functional support as needed (i.e. production, marketing, PR)
  • Reports into Production Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation for design/development meetings, including pulling materials, colors, trials and samples, and putting together boards 
  • Create colorups, CADs and mockups in Photoshop
  • Update visual linesheet 
  • Update SMS launch card
  • Assist with showroom/market preparations
  • Provide assistance during looks and styling 
  • Prepare outgoing packages to office and/or factories in Italy
  • Monitor incoming and outgoing shipments
  • Receive/check-in prototypes and samples
  • Photograph prototypes and samples
  • Filing and archiving of materials, trials and samples
  • Creation and maintenance of style masters in RLM 
  • Creation and maintenance of BOMs in RLM

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years experience in design and/or product development preferred
  • Basic knowledge leather goods and accessories
  • Intermediate to Advanced Photoshop Skills
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Working knowledge of RLM, or similar ERP system, a plus

The duo met while studying at Parsons School of Design, collaborating on their senior thesis, which would eventually become their first collection as Proenza Schouler. The collection was bought in its entirety by Barneys New York. Proenza Schouler is named after the two designers' mothers' maiden names, Proenza being the maiden name of Hernandez' mother and Schouler that of McCollough's mother.

Proenza Schouler is defined by its fusion of craftsmanship and attention to detail with a sense of refined ease. Inspiration drawn from contemporary art and youth culture is combined with an emphasis on tailoring and the use of custom developed fabrics.

Awarded with the inaugural CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund award in 2004, three years later, Proenza Schouler was honoured with the 2007 CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year award. In June 2011, the designers were awarded their second CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year Award.
