You will be working for the WORLD OF TOMMY with its pulse on boundary-pushing youth culture for the confident consumer adopting the latest streetwear-inspired fashion.

Position Description and responsibilities

As a Designer Manager working in the Menswear Division you will be responsible for the design and execution the seasonal collections for our product category Outerwear. You will be supported by a designer & junior designer. And you will be work closely with developers, merchandisers and the Design Director for the planning and development of each season collection. You will design and execute seasonal range plans for review with Design Director & VP of design.

Specifically, you will be responsible for:
  • Reporting into the Design Director, this role is exclusively responsible for all outerwear products for TH Menswear/
  • Researching trends and conducting market research that can be worked into the Tommy Hilfiger Menswear brand strategy.
  • Translating research and trends into a commercial TH Menswear collection.
  • Follow the range plan set by the merchandisers to build commercial outerwear collections.
  • Preparing all necessary design decks and boards for divisional presentations.
  • Follow up on styles & selected fabrics each season in collaboration with product developers and communicate this to our buying offices/vendors & retail needs.
  • Working closely and communicating daily on issues/changes that arise from the development of selected outerwear.
  • You will be partner with product developers to ensure a smooth work flow each season when executing each style.
  • Working closely with the Technical Department for the executing of garment fittings.
  • Attend fittings to help find solutions to any problems that may come up during the fitting process.
  • Continuous development of new fabrics, yarns, wool and downs.
  • Working with the Fabric Team to select the best fabrics for each collection.
  • Presenting outerwear designs to merchandising team & management as requested.
  • Working to the divisional calendar to meet deadlines.
  • Making sure that the Tommy DNA is seen in each garment.

Requirements
  • Degree at Bachelor level - in Fashion Design Menswear
  • Minimum 12+ years related experience in (a) leading Men's brand(s), with at least 8 years of outerwear experience
  • Very commercial mentality with consumer insights
  • Solid knowledge of garment specifications, fitting and pattern making
  • Eye for details with an extensive knowledge of fabric and wool and down coats.
  • Passion for men's fashion with a good sense of style
  • An extensive knowledge on 'new' technical developments in outerwear.
  • Great sense of color and patternation.
  • People Management experience plus.
  • A team-player, mature and flexible
  • Excellent computer skills (Illustrator/ Photoshop) & hand-drawn skills.
  • 3D experience plus
  • Ability to translate trends into a commercial collection with a contemporary handwriting
  • Capable of working in a hectic and always changing environment
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal, as English is the working language of the company.
  • Open communicator and able to work with a number of personalities
  • Willing to travel to Europe & Asia for supplier/vendor visits

To be successful in this position you need to have a good understanding of the trends, for outerwear and the ability to translate them into a commercial product. It is important that you are able to work independently as well as in a team and that you also enjoy working in a busy, changeable environment that fosters authenticity. To be able to work well with other teams, you need to have strong communication skills.
