Job Details

The Role

The Head of Brand is responsible for overseeing the development and execution of the brand & marketing communications across the entire business. Working closely with the CEO and Creative Team to understand and build on our brand vision, you will be responsible for ensuring our brand story is reflected accurately and consistently across all internal and customer facing touchpoints and activities - strengthening the brand identity and building awareness of Duke + Dexter across the globe. 

You will lead a team that together develops compelling stories and supporting assets, and expertly weaves them through the customer journey to inspire, educate, convert and retain Duke + Dexter’s customers and community. You will seed these stories with press, influencers, strategic partners, as well as telling them from our own channels (stores, social media, email, website) and through our retail partners. You are the customer champion, always putting them at the heart of everything you do. You’ll understand our customer and what makes them tick, and use this knowledge to feed into marketing campaigns in order to deliver world class marketing collateral that meet clear commercial goals.

Key Responsibilities

Brand Leadership

  • Build a strong relationship with Archie (Founder & CEO), translating the brand vision into a strong and compelling brand story and plan, that resonates with our customers, drives awareness, and builds brand loyalty
  • Manage the application of our brand identity by delivering materials on time in full, and ensuring our brand guidelines, templates and other supporting resources (marketing collateral, training documents, etc) are fit for purpose
  • Ensure plans and creative approach to assets drive the brands consumer and commercial agenda
  • Ensure brand consistency across the globe, both in our direct-to-consumer business (stores and online), and through our trade partners

Internal Brand Development

  • Champion the brand internally, and ensure understanding and internal alignment of our brand story throughout the business
  • Ensure our brand is expressed in a consistent way internally across all touchpoints, from how we pitch to agencies to our customer care

Creative Development & Project Management

  • Work with our Creative Lead to develop high quality and effective marketing materials & campaigns that bring our brand to life whilst delivering to a clear commercial brief
  • Aligning with the brand calendar, manage the content creation and distribution across our owned and earned channels – including the website (to drive SEO), email and social media
  • Manage workflow with the creative team, ensuring that tasks are prioritized according to commercial importance, and delivered in a pragmatic and timely manner
  • Closely manage creative and production agencies and photographers, ensuring they meet objectives on time and on budget

Brand Partnerships

  • Establish new and strengthen existing brand partnership relationships with like-minded brands to increase the authenticity of our brand, extend our reach and build awareness

Media Relations, Influencers & Social Media

  • Lead press office activity, and manage our reputation in the media, defining and placing key messages to increase organic coverage, raise our brand profile and overall awareness in key regions
  • Work with local markets to ensure the key messages are adapted to ensure relevancy and resonance with local media
  • Oversee our influencer plan, building and retaining strong relationships to secure ongoing coverage through a mixture of ongoing relationships to gifting and tactical payment
  • Build engagement across our social media channels, ensuring activity is always on-brand, and supportive of our overall brand story

Customer Champion

  • Be the go-to brand champion within the business, always ensuring we have our target (global and local) customer in mind when planning any activity
  • Understand and monitor market trends and competitor activity, and the impact on our business and customer
  • Use existing and new research to understand our customer and what makes them tick, using this insight to develop messaging to drive them to action
  • Build our relationship with the D+D community, providing them with greater access and behind the scenes insights to the brand and all goings on – improving overall interaction and engagement 

Reporting, Budgets & Measurement

  • You will ensure that everything you deliver has a positive business impact and be responsible for evaluating ROI, as well as tracking the development of key brand metrics
  • You will own the budgets across Content, PR and Partnerships, and be responsible for monitoring these on a regular basis to ensure they are on track

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a related Brand Marketing role within a consumer brand – preferably retail
  • Proven record of delivering global brand plans into markets, creating assets and weaving together campaigns
  • Experience of working in an ecommerce business
  • Experience working across a number of geographies
  • Experience managing marketing teams across Creative, PR, Campaign Activation, Social media and Content
  • Experience managing budgets

Skills

  • Expert knowledge of brand development
  • Expert knowledge of brand marketing techniques, tools and platforms
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and credibility across internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Outstanding leadership and project management skills - leading high performing teams and executing successful projects - with an eye for detail and high standards of execution
  • Ability to combine a balance of commercial results-delivery with creative and entrepreneurial flair
  • Well-organised, logical and efficient. Process-driven with strong attention to detail
  • A self-starter with an ambitious spirit, able to handle parallel work streams resourcefully and at pace, working both independently and collaboratively
  • Working knowledge of Excel as a project planning and management tool
  • Strong graphic design capabilities
  • Good knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, Adobe software – Photoshop
