As a Business Development Manager (Assortment Management), you will actively shape the assortment offered in the Pre-owned category on Zalando. You will be responsible for creating an exciting and (locally) relevant offer for our customers across all markets, identifying business opportunities and supporting initiatives to unlock long term growth and ensure high quality within our assortment.

ABOUT THE TEAM

The Pre-owned team is part of the "Recommerce" business unit. We are Zalando's circularity and fashion recommerce team. We enable everyone to fulfil their desire to refresh their wardrobes in a more sustainable way - by providing fresh, quality-checked second hand assortment and an unmatched level of convenience. Concretely, we provide customers with the opportunity to trade-in their lightly worn items, and buy pre-owned fashion. We define "pre-owned" as second-hand-fashion items from popular ("highstreet") brands that are in like-new condition, which we present in a high-standard environment.


We are at an early stage of the business: We integrated into the Zalando Fashion Store in 2020, launching the Pre-owned proposition. The proposition is currently live in 13 Zalando markets. Pre-owned is a strategically relevant topic for Zalando group, contributing to our customer promises, our strategy of becoming the starting point for fashion and the circularity goals in our sustainability strategy (do.More).


WHERE YOUR EXPERTISE IS NEEDED

'Solve something that matters' / 'fly high, dive deep'


  • Create strategies and drive their implementation to fulfil assortment needs within our brand portfolio and category mix, identifying and filling assortment white spots, support operational initiatives to deliver high quality assortment
  • Create assortment (incl. seasonality and re-supply) strategy for the Pre-owned category to inform and support business steering to guarantee high customer satisfaction and purchasing conversion throughout the year
  • Take ownership of our brand activation and steering process, taking commercial decisions which brands are an impactful addition to our offer, enabling activations and adjustments across all relevant systems in collaboration with stakeholders inside and outside of the Recommerce team
  • Closely collaborate with Fashion Store Category Management, Curation and Content Creation to leverage their insights to improve relevance of the Pre-owned category, contributing with your industry insights
  • Support research into business opportunities in the context of assortment expansion, develop strong market and customer understanding

Prior experience:At least 3 years of relevant experience in the fields of management consulting, business development, buying or commercial planning with a proven track record.
