The Senior Manager of Insights will have extensive experience working in a digital research and insights role for an agency or luxury fashion, beauty and/or lifestyle brand. They will be tasked with optimising and presenting a unique offering to leadership through trends and data in a challenging and engaging way that feeds into winning new clients, as well as the development of existing clients and The Independents a collective of global agencies compromising of Karla Otto, K2, The Qode, Lefty, Bureau Betak and Bureau Future

The successful candidate will be a well-rounded digital head who has excellent skills in researching, writing and presenting to senior stakeholders. Using their initiative and strong ability to produce comprehensive reports, insightful newsletters and impressive decks by researching & analysing trending and industry-relevant topics and data, they will draw impactful quantitative & qualitative insights that provides solutions, fuels strategy, drives decisions and contributes towards robust growth at group level for both internal and external services.

The Senior Manager/Director of Insights will have most recently led research/trends/insight teams, with demonstrative ability to turn conversation, engagement and performance into actionable insights with strategic foresight. They will have the instinctive ability to convert often-complex papers and data into well-formatted digestible, thought-provoking reports for the wider group — and will be skilled in translating business to offer research-backed and data-driven conclusions.

With relevant team members, they will also lead the execution and implementation of insight/research-led briefs and projects for both internal and external services and clients, and therefore have extremely strong organisational and presentation skills with meticulous attention to detail.

RESPONSIBILITIES, TASKS, SKILLS

Key areas of responsibility will include:
 

•    Own, research, create and present decks, trend papers, newsletters and other forms of reporting material for senior leadership and stakeholders

•    Develop and deliver valuable foresights that are aligned with group targets and objectives in a dynamic manner, using strategic insights and data that drives strategy

•    Lead and regularly manage all internal insight documents and rolling material (e.g. monthly newsletters), ensuring relevant team members are updated are and utilising the insights in a productive way

•    Contribute towards improving external and internal services, including but not limited to wider business plans, winning new clients, and successfully introducing a more insights-proven approaches for both the group and client activity

•    Use expert-level of audience and industry knowledge to help improve the quality of business decisions that equally drives revenue, helps identify and maximise on opportunities for insight-led activity, and meets clients’ own goals and needs
 

•    Use expertise and knowledge to consult on client/internal questions, with the ability to translate requested information into the most effective form of insights that will drive maximised impact
 

•    Research and report on the market, sector and any other relevant information on an on-going basis to reflect current opportunities and circumstances, ensuring insights are communicated to senior leadership and stakeholders, and that the group is placed competitively in the current market
 

•    Provide the group with analysis on the challenges and opportunities for our key audiences / market, ensuring that the organisation is equipped with research, knowledge, data and market intelligence

•    Take recommendations, based on research and trends translated by self, and implement them into workflow by working closely with relevant team members to drive and develop tangible improvements
 

•    Develop and deliver a roadmap of research including market analysis, third-party data and industry performance
 

•    Initiative to develop proactive research for different internal teams and clients — and to adapt and drive operations as per trends, insights and data
 

•    Combine strong presentation and communication skills with attention to detail, excellent writing skills and numerical proficiency to translate the complexity of research data into actionable steps
 

•    Work on a range of business issues across PR, marketing and commercial teams from a solution-orientated insights perspective, understanding the challenges that may come with a broad range of clients and projects with strict deadlines
 

•    Manage and develop relationships with senior leadership stakeholders globally, sending relevant insight as and when needed to drive efficient business
 

•    Provide thought leadership to different internal departments / teams in defining how The Independents can translate insights and research into results-driven strategies

 

KEY ATTRIBUTES

  • Around 5-7 years’ experience (depending on level of role) working in digital with recent experience leading trends/insight for an agency and/or in-house
  • Strong experience/interest and understanding of the luxury fashion, beauty and lifestyle markets
  • Strong evidence of the implementation of previous research, trends and insight work that has provided solutions and improved business
  • Excellent ability to write, package and presents trends, insights and research findings and data into reports, newsletters, papers, decks and other reading material to provide foresight and offer actionable solutions for senior leadership
  • Fluent in English (mother-tongue) - additional languages are advantageous
  • Excellent understanding of audience measurement, industry research, tools and relevant software — plus the ability to introduce new platforms to provide the most efficient service
  • High level of presentation and execution skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Natural planner and organiser
  • Excellent ability to work through complex data and translate to a wider team compromising of senior leadership and stakeholders
  • Collaborative team player but with the ability to work autonomously to deliver to brief and on-time
  • A positive, can-do attitude who can work under pressure and likes to solve problems
  • An open attitude and eagerness to learn new things

  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and work to stringent deadlines
  • Leadership, coaching and management of junior team members
  • Good listening and diplomacy skills
  • Proficiency in Keynote, PowerPoint
  • Strong numerical proficiency, including the use of Excel
  • Proficiency in relevant third-party tools and software
