Reporting to the VP of Corporate Affairs and collaborating closely with internal stakeholders such as top and senior management, divisional leads and HR, the Director of Internal & Employee Communications will take the lead in developing and delivering internal communications strategies, plans, programs and assets that drive employee engagement and shape the understanding of Zalando's business, brand and values.

You will be expected to interact credibly and confidently with management and leaders, and to develop a long-term vision and strategy for the function in line with our Corporate Affairs and Business vision. At the same time, the role requires a high degree of hands-on day-to-day delivery.

The role will focus on strengthening our employees' bond with Zalando - particularly on engagement with the company's mission and strategy - and helping keep everyone connected and enthusiastic. You will work with the Management Board to convey Zalando's policies on major cultural and employment issues such as the future of work, D&I, changes in the organisation and new strategies. We are looking for a candidate to lead the team to the next level:
  • in close coordination with the HR team, the team is expanding its work programme to revamp internal communication channels to make them more inclusive, also for logistics employees
  • Create compelling content and formats of engagement for the employees, such as events
  • Focus on the good employer corporate narrative.
WHERE YOUR EXPERTISE IS NEEDED
  • Lead a team of internal communications professionals, champion the function across the Zalando group to embed its position as a center of expertise and best practice hub
  • Be a point of contact for all strategic internal communications matters and act as internal communications business partner and trusted advisor to the executive team and leadership group. Coach and equip senior business leaders to lead their teams more effectively with clear, focused, high quality communications and support them through organizational change
  • Interact cross-functionally with the respective counterparts in other communications functions to leverage an overall communications approach
  • Lead the development and delivery of robust, impactful and measurable internal communications campaigns and initiatives focused on Zalando's strategic priorities. Drive innovation and leverage best practices
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • A proven track record of strategy development, strategic planning and delivery and a results oriented, hands-on approach with regards to employee relations and internal communications.
  • Ability to think and act strategically when discussing, collaborating and presenting at a senior level.
  • Demonstrated leadership in a pressurised environment as well as strong networking and team management skills. You flourish when working in a multinational environment, demonstrating a good understanding of cultural differences and how to embrace them, diversity and inclusion topics.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize a variety of time-sensitive tasks. You are agile minded and able to work expertly under pressure and juggle multiple projects and stakeholders.
  • A proven track record in media relations with emphasis on employer reputation and HR matters.
  • Understanding of and experience with fulfilment centers and logistics employment relations communications is an asset.
