ROLE SUMMARY

 

As D&D enters our next phase of growth, we’re looking for an experienced commercial leader to work directly with the CEO and senior leadership team on the implementation of our commercial strategy. You will oversee the development of an omnichannel growth strategy that includes wholesale and direct (eCommerce and retail) channels. You’ll be responsible for overseeing our stock planning and forecasting for all sales channels while working closely with the CEO to develop revenue forecasts for each sales channel.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Commercial Strategy

  • Create and drive the Commercial strategy proactively, consulting with the leadership team and senior management to define global development opportunities 
  • Establish topline sales forecasts for each sales channel, and plans to achieve, breaking down a plan by sales channel, retailer, department, category and product
  • Review and quantify new international market opportunities, sharing with wider internal team to help focus marketing and product development efforts, being able to justify where the potential opportunity is coming from
  • Provide direction to the Product and Operation teams on Global RRP targets and margins
  • Research, recommend and develop alternative business models that challenge existing ways of doing business and align with overall company strategies and financial objectives

     

 

Merchandise Planning

  • Set and agree on annual budgets with CEO (Ecom & Wholesale) and plans to meet financial objectives
  • Establish department and category targets in line with product strategy and overall business plans
  • Recap and analyse seasonal collection performance, presenting results to the wider team to help inform future decision making (product/design/marketing / eccom/ content)
  • Oversee Monday sales review meetings led by the Merchandise Planner in order to maximise commercial opportunities
  • Provide guidance to the Marketing & Ecom Teams weekly, recommending products to feature, focus on and promote based on category & product performance
  • Liaise closely with Design and Production teams to support the development of range plans from a commercial perspective, ensuring we propose a strongly merchandised and relevant offer that meets moving commercial/market needs and is delivered at the right time
  • Responsible for the buying process and inventory management (both seasonal and core), in line with range plans agreed on with the Leadership and Product teams
  • Oversee the management of replenishment (both Ecom and Wholesale) and sales to stock in-season, working to achieve sell-through targets (while maximising any Wholesale stock opportunities to balance Ecom stock)
  • Ensure the team is regularly reviewing old age stock- highlighting risks and opportunities to the business

 

Wholesale Management

  • Manage, lead, structure and motivate the Wholesale Team by setting clear objectives, KPIs, goals and maintaining strong relationships with external partners
  • Maximise the distribution potential through understanding the markets, clients, and opportunities on a global scale
  • Oversee wholesale critical path and global calendar
  • Lead market week meetings; ensure the D&D objectives and strategies are clear to the Wholesale team and retailers while translating the retailer strategies to the wider team
  • Develop, negotiate and implement an annual business plan for the overall wholesale business and for each Key Account in collaboration with the Junior Wholesale Manager and in line with top-line company targets
  • Lead the management of key external accounts by means of regular business reviews, strategy meetings, and negotiation of annual commercial agreements
  • Build effective relationships, having a wealth of knowledge of the accounts to ensure the development of the business

 

Team Development

  • Manage and develop a team of 3, developing the skills and capabilities of the team at both group and individual level
  • Lead, coach and motivate the team to deliver great results
  • Resource plan effectively for the future growth of the team
  • Organise and deploy key communication processes and best practices internally with the team and key departments to ensure awareness and efficient implementation of programmes and projects

     

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years experience in a similar role at an omnichannel brand. We’re looking for someone who can clearly demonstrate the impact of their work in previous roles on the future growth of the business they were in.
  • You have a sales-driven spirit with a balance of analytical and creative skills

  • Excellent strategic planning, analytical and organizational skills
  • Strong judgement and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills
  • Ability to operate independently, with little supervision
  • Good understanding of retail principles and practices
