The Team
The Tommy Jeans division is one of the main business drivers within Tommy Hilfiger Europe. Based in the Amsterdam European HQ, the team is split into 4 sub teams: Design, Production, Sourcing & Development, Buying & Planning and Merchandising & Sales
These 4 teams work together in an informal setting to create quality products for the Global consumer base. Tommy Jeans presents 4 collections per year (Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter) alongside additional capsules and retail specials.

The Position:
The Senior Graphic Designer is part of the Design Team for Tommy Jeans apparel in Europe, reporting into the  Snr Art Director, and will be working on the graphic language of Tommy Jeans predominately the womens apparel.  

The Senior Graphic Designer has a strong understanding of graphics and branding.

The Designer will partner with other members of the Design Team to create a cohesive graphic language aligned across our different lifestyles, with clear story telling reflecting seasonal concept ideas.  

The Designer has a strong knowledge of print techniques with a good understanding of trends.  

The key objective is to ensure creative commercial product that is designed and developed for the Tommy Jeans apparel divisions which is in line with the Tommy Jeans brand identity. 

Flexible to work on other areas when needed. Working within a small team of graphic designers and apparel design.

A strong understanding of the relation between graphics and apparel including focussed knowledge of worksheets and technical information.

The position is mostly focused on the Graphics t shirts as the main category with all other apparel categories connected.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Creating graphic design and branding for Tommy Jeans 
  • Research and identify trends and techniques that align with the Tommy Jeans Aesthetic. 
  • Translate Global seasonal brief into the divisions with creating strong graphical language every season. 
  • Strong understanding of graphic techniques on Woven and Jersey products. 
  • Working to the Divisional calendar to meet deadlines. 
  • Be able to work to a commercial Range plan each season, collaborating with the Merchandising team on best seller management, essential product and seasonal newness. 
  • Preparation of all sketches (2D & 3D) for divisional digital presentations and focus on the follow up of each style. 
  • Prepare all confirmed styles to be digitalized, with clear garment worksheets and PLM completed to a high standard for sending to joint venture and global buying offices.
  • Present seasonal graphic collections during collection reviews with clear information and technical knowledge. 
  • Working closely and daily communication on challenges and changes that might arise during the development of styles. Partner with the Product Developer to ensure a smooth work process each season. 
  • Involved in fittings and graphic submits, working with PD team and tech teams to make product perfect.
  • Ability to work across multiple apparel categories from Graphic T shirts to Outerwear and understanding the aesthetics needed.
  • Work closely with the Design team to align design aesthetics, seasonal details and creative big ideas. 
  • Great work ethic in a team environment, with the utilization of strong communication skills. 
  • Flexibility to changing demands and skills.
  • Whilst the role is focused for the Womens apparel we have a very diverse collection which has a large percentage of genderless graphics.
  • The position has a large administrative role for presentations and garment worksheet preparation.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor Level degree (or equivalent) in Graphic Design. 
  • Work experience: at least 4-7 years’ experience in development of graphics and branding for apparel. 
  • High level of understanding graphic prints and techniques, patterns and use of repeats 
  • Skills: Strong knowledge in Adobe especially in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop. Experience using PLM systems and CAD 
  • Knowledge of 3D Design (eg Browzwear/ Clo3D)  
  • Open to work in 3D Design and digital process.  
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, fluent in written and spoken English are a must. 
  • Experience of traveling to vendors for seasonal sourcing and development trips. 
  • Creative with new ideas, with the ability to be creative within a commercial environment. 
  • Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. 
  • A fast and organized designer to cope with the fast pace of seasons.  
  • High level of attention to detail needed. 
  • Creates partnership and able to work within a team with a number of personalities 
  • Understanding that the requirements of position are creative and administrative combined.
