Senior Product Lead, Search - SHOP (Remote - North America)

What will you do?

• You'll define long-term product strategy for Search in our Shop app and identify new problems and opportunities where Shop Search can be leveraged.
• You'll work closely with senior R&D counterparts (e.g. director of data and engineering, senior UX manager) to build and scale the team.
• You'll motivate and influence senior leadership, key stakeholders, drive buy-in for your ideas, and tell exceptional stories around why and what we should build into Shop Search.
• You'll lead a team of product managers to execute with a high-performing (and growing) team of senior/staff level engineers, data scientists, UX, product marketers, legal and partner managers to create compelling technical patterns, design systems, and shared features.
• You'll help grow the product management team by hiring world-class product managers.
• You'll define success metrics for your product area, and drive alignment for all product efforts to those measures.
• You'll lean on your leadership and collaboration skills as you work closely with senior leadership and peers across different product areas.
• Taking a player-coach role, you'll support your team, hire and grow, and get your hands dirty in the craft of product management.

Qualifications

What do you bring?

• You have bothproduct managementcraft and people leadership experience. You are expected to not only develop your team but also further the craft of product management at Shopify.
• A proven history of success in product management roles. You are a Senior Product Manager and/or Product Leadcurrently owning or has owned a large scope of consumer-facing search/recommendations/discovery products and features.
• You own and set the overall long-term strategic vision of the product area.
• You have deep domain knowledge of building consumer-facing search/discovery/recommendations products and are on top of the latest trends in the space.
• You have a track record of shipping highly complex and impactful search products (e.g. discovery, recommendations/personalization, and/or ad targeting engines).
• You have experience working closely with engineers, data scientists, UX (both leaders and ICs) to ship products and grow R&D teams.
• You have experience managing and growing product managers. You've been responsible for performance management, have navigated tough conversations with direct reports, and you feel comfortable supporting product managers to achieve their career goals.
• An entrepreneurial mindset. You must be comfortable rolling up your sleeves, thriving in ambiguity, and getting the work done.
• A love of storytelling.
• A genuine excitement for solving merchant problems and a strong sense of empathy for the merchant and their buyers.
• Technical background - experience in engineering, data science, or an undergrad degree in a technical field.
