SUMMARY
The Technical Design Assistant is responsible for measuring and preparing the Import garments for fittings. This individual will work hand in hand with the Pre-Production Technical Design team members to bring silhouettes to life.
CORE RESPONSIBLITIES
- Receive all Import packages. Log received samples and pass samples or materials to the appropriate Design team member
- Create the fit list for Import fittings and publish prior to the scheduled fittings
- Measure all Pre-Production fit samples, PPS samples, and TOP samples then distribute to the appropriate Pre-Production Technical Designer for fitting
- Identify issues with the measured specs and call these out prior to the scheduled fittings
- Update the spec sheets tab in the tech pack, print the specs, and attach to the garment prior to fitting
- Review the construction call outs on the existing tech pack against the physical sample. Call out any discrepancies prior to fitting and review with the appropriate Technical Designer as needed
- Attend fittings, as needed
- Assist the Technical Designers with organizing samples
QUALIFICATIONS
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, flexible in changing direction as needed
- Proficient in MS Office and Adobe applications including Word, Excel, and Illustrator
- Candidate must be highly organized and able to prioritize with a sense of urgency
- Candidate must be a team player, willing and able to work cross-functionally with multiple departments
- Dynamic problem solving and project management skills
- Must have proven knowledge of garment construction including points of measurement and sewing techniques
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Program Completion, Certification, or a Degree in Patternmaking is desirable
- Experience working with patterns or in a sewing shop is a plus
- Able to work and think independently as well as part of a team
- Excellent follow-through and attention to detail

- Excellent listening, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondences, and memos
- Ability to write and respond to email correspondence
- Ability to communicate desired results or changes through technical illustrations
- Ability to effectively present information one-on-one and in small group situations to other employees

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
