JOB SUMMARY

As a Tory Burch Senior Manager of materials, you are a cross functional partner, working with associate merchandising director in China translating design' in New York's vision by developing and sourcing on-brand, on-trend leathers, fabrics, and trims.

JOB DESCRIPTION

RESPONSIBILITIES

SOURCING
  • Curate best-in-class regional T2 supplier base. Drives regional strategy.
  • Co-Leadership in cross category sourcing efforts and coordination
  • Push innovation and newness in sourcing, including sourcing and creating new materials, techniques and applications
  • Accountability for T2 performance in price, quality, safety and delivery. Issue CAPS, monitor progress and create vendor exit strategy according to performance.
  • Drive compliance audits, and support audit process
  • Vendor management- Onboarding; communicate quality, testing and lead time expectations and penalties & Exiting; create the least disruptive and most professional exit strategy as needed


DEVELOPMENT
  • Oversee SMS material ordering process
  • Cost negotiations based driven by raw material market prices, quality expectations, and volume of buys
  • Drives and resolves risk assessment activities
  • Drive and support the development of local and sustainable options, creating strategic raw material solutions
  • Oversee LDS and FDS process to ensure accuracy, transparency and fit for purpose application. Push T2 suppliers to comply with transparency requirements.


PRE-PRODUCTION
  • Cross category collaboration on best practices for material management, quality standards, and testing approach
  • Problem-solve quality lapses with Material Technician, Production team and Factory team
  • Support inspections and resolutions when problems occur


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manages team, creates a culture of accountability and feedback, with high performance expectations for the department
  • Interacts daily with PD and country offices regards all aspects of material development
  • Participate and contribute in meetings as related to products
  • Act as a resource when collaborating on materials and/or colors with other product categories


EDUCATION & PRIOR EXPERIENCE NEEDED
  • BS/BA/BFA degree
  • Leather course accreditations a strong plus
  • Minimum 10 years in footwear leather and textile sourcing and development
  • Strong collaborative, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong math and negotiation skills
  • Able to work in a fluid, fast-paced, multi-channel environment.
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Strong communication skills
