Job Details

As the HEAD of TEC you will be working alongside the Design team on all seasonal collections as well as additional capsule collections and special projects. You will manage the Product Development across all business categoires and work closely with the Sales and Merchandising team to ensure all technical production deadlines are met. You will also be responsible for ensuring process improvement and efficiency within the sample room, head office or manufacturing environment by overseeing the day to day activities of all technical staff and provides technical and advisory support to internal and external departments of the company covering garment technology, pattern technology and/or fabric technology.

  The ideal candidate will have:   

  •  At least 5 year’s experience in a similar role working within a similar sized business 
  • Highly proficient in MS Office, PLM.
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and ensure delivery of results within tight deadlines.
  • Positive; work well within a team.
  • Excellence: High level of finesse and excellence required in delivery of all tasks. 
  • Will be hands-on and a natural go getter, ready to face today’s industry challenges with a positive attitude.
  • In depth knowledge in apparel manufacturing equipment as well as garment terms and fabric behaviors 
  • Experience in luxury brand manufacturing and quality standards
  • Ability to multitask and run factory, atelier and repair shop
  • Organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skill, bilingualism an asset
  • In depth knowledge of pattern making and generic body dimensions.
  • Experience in pattern cutting (and/or Gerber programs)

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure valid test certificates are in place for all products and manage the relevant databases
  • Investigate and fully understand the various standards and test methods in relation to the product range
  • Obtain, challenge and agree product specifications with suppliers
  • Create and maintain product specifications for all products and manage the relevant databases
  • Implement and maintain systems and procedures relating to all technical and quality aspects of the role
  • Ensure product standards and continuity files are established and ensure these are maintained correctly
  • Occasionally work on patterns including pattern cutting when required by the business as well as supporting the seamstresses with sewing and confectioning when required by the needs of the business. 
  • Set and manage testing budgets
  • Implement and maintain Quality Control systems including goods inwards and ongoing quality control 
  • Fully investigate all quality issues and customer complaints, report on findings and follow up on subsequent actions 
  • Analyse new product samples and identify any potential issues with conformity to required standards 
  • Be aware of and investigate ongoing changes to current legislation relating to particular standards 
  • Oversee supplier relationships to ensure all suppliers meet and maintain delivery, quality and margin expectations. Communicate with them regularly to clarify all priorities and technical details.
  • Work closely with manufacturers, manage production timelines.
  • Constantly review and implement new processes and structures to improve organization, communication and effectiveness.
  • Ensure that costing and margin targets are met across the department each season.
  • Extract Production orders from internal system.
  • Update Production deliveries docs weekly, scheduling 100% QC.
  • Ongoing assessment of existing supplier base and sourcing of new suppliers that offer competitive pricing, good quality product in line with margin requirements and order volumes.
  • Set quality standards for suppliers and internal quality standards
  • Ensure all admin, invoices & reporting are kept up to date
  • Conduct costing on all levels from development to production
  • Cross check Purchase Orders (PO) quantities against Sales Orders (SO).
  • Raise Purchase Orders (PO).
  • Change or amend any POs or SOs as necessary and inform other systems’ account managers.
  • Ensure Purchase Orders’ trackers and logs are maintained and updated regularly.
  • Raise all labels and send them to factories.
  • Log in all production samples (press orders, special orders, e-com photography orders, gifting orders) received in office and distribute them to each relevant department.
  • Quality Control on Photography pairs (retail/ecommerce order/special orders) and promptly communicate issues to relevant factories.
  • Create shipments and relevant Packing Lists.
  • Maintain and update material stock for production.
  • Creation of seasonal Wear Test orders and maintain the file up to date.
  • Send substitutions approvals to factories and log them in PLM system.

Your Financial and Analysis responsibilities will include:

  • Prepare different pricing scenarios per SKU to discuss the MD and Finance Manager before going to Market
  • Negotiating payment terms with Vendors to reduce the company’s credit exposure
  • Keep a detailed track of supplier’s costs to maintain them within Budget
  • Support the company Critical path with key dates and update these as and when necessary
