Reporting to the President, this role will oversee the Social Justice Center (SJC) and manage the various aspects of programming for the initiative.  The position will have a combination of management, goal setting and project execution duties.  In consultation with the President, this individual will develop strategic plans for building the pipeline for SJC scholars which will include - creating recruitment strategies for pre-college students, overseeing mentoring activities for SJC college interns, developing program and community building activities for SJC participants, and forming partnerships with educational and cultural entities. Simultaneously, establish working relationships with our industry partners to support current BIPOC employees by developing mentor protocols, opportunities to obtain graduate level certificate credentials and benchmarking to measure progress in professional advancement.

  • In collaboration with the president's vision for the SJC, develop goals and programs for the lifecycle of the project - from pre-college recruitment to mentorship and analytics for industry partners
  • Identify partnerships and programs that will provide opportunities for recruitment, career development and creative resources
  • Manage communications and outreach and craft messaging in conjunction with college external relations - this includes developing regular publications and web-based assets that are public-facing
  • Represent the SJC and the college in this endeavor and speak publically on the progress and needs of the organization
  • This is the key role to drive the growth of all levels of the SJC and create the infrastructure to ensure a sustainable program going forward
  • Other duties as assigned.

 


REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree and at least 3 years at a senior leadership level in a corporate, government or university setting - or similar experience. Project management and responsibility for external relations. Managing outreach coordination with varied and diverse organizations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree and prior experience with multifaceted organizations and an understanding of the need for diversity, equity and inclusion.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong project management and ability to sequence activities and adhere to deadlines to ensure programing success 
  • Oversee financial reporting and expenditures
  • Oversee an external-facing unit within a university setting
  • Able to take on a spokesperson role for the SJC when needed, lead meetings and bring together internal and external constituencies around programming.
  • Proficient in managing multi-person department as well as monthly reports to varied industry partners and the president
  • Work with the fundraising and networking aspect of the SJC and deliver multimedia based resources for use in that work
  • Experience using MS Office- in particular Word, PowerPoint and Excel - as well as Google Docs, Google Drive and Google Calendar
