At Self-Portrait we are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Assistant Buyer to join the buying team.
As Assistant buyer at self-portrait you will work directly with Head of Buying along with the ecom team.
We work in a fast-paced environment, so willingness to learn, take part in all aspects of the role, and a passion for your work are key. There is a lot of invaluable experience to be learnt as part of our small team, so this is a great opportunity for the right candidate.
Knowledge, skills and experience
- 1-3 years’ experience as an assistant buyer in a contemporary/ premium/ high street brand.
- A positive can-do attitude, and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
- A strong fashion eye with awareness of the market and fashion trends.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Excellent time management skills and able to work to deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills.
Main responsibilities
- Work with head of buying to trade within the season to potentialise sales and profits – we work at a fast pace and are extremely reactive.
- Actively contributing by identifying risks and opportunities across all categories that are supported by data and presenting these to the Head of Buying.
- Managing shipments, highlighting to the Head of buying any risks of not meeting launch dates.
- Updating line sheet with key information ahead of selling.
- Uploading attributes and categories accurately in zedonk.
- Increase profit across all product categories in line with the company’s growth ambitions.
- Support Head of Buying with pricing architecture & product buying for all channels increasing margin profitability where necessary. As well as identifying missed product opportunities.
- Preparing presentation boards for RRP, Ecom drop launches and Buy sign off meetings ahead of deadline.
- Proactively identify and execute development opportunities for the brand external and internal i.e. range plan discussion’s capsules & exclusives.
- Liaising with Merchandising and being proactive with trading the e-com & retail business.
- De-risking volumes to buys if delivery is affected/fit issues/QC issues.
- Continuously review competitor activity by carrying out comp shops monitoring trends in the market for pricing architecture & new category expansion.
- Work with Ecom to review website weekly, ensuring categories are updated and relevant to best sellers and the current mood.
