Department: Logistics Algorithms
Reports to: Engineering Lead/ Applied Science Manager
Team Size:
We’re looking for an Applied Scientist to conduct and guide state-of-the-art research and software development based on the scientific method. You’ll work closely together with other scientists to make experiments and research new algorithms for solving complex problems. Our systems process millions of customer orders every week and make fundamental decisions including scheduling, planning, and routing. Your solutions will have a direct and visible impact on the efficiency of our warehouses.

We’re looking for an Applied Scientist to conduct and guide state-of-the-art research and software development based on the scientific method. You’ll work closely together with other scientists to make experiments and research new algorithms for solving complex problems. Our systems process millions of customer orders every week and make fundamental decisions including scheduling, planning, and routing. Your solutions will have a direct and visible impact on the efficiency of our warehouses.
WHERE YOUR EXPERTISE IS NEEDED
- Collaboratively explore problems, formulate hypotheses, design experiments, prototype and validate solutions to improve our optimization algorithms
- Deliver end-to-end solutions for the whole development cycle including research and implementing production software as well as testing, operating and maintaining production systems with high availability requirements
- Influence our research and development methodologies to foster a scalable and data-driven architecture and collaboration inside and across teams
- Think abstractly and find new ways to solve hard optimization problems while balancing scientific rigor and business impact
- Master or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics or another quantitative field together with experience in algorithm-related software development in Kotlin, Scala, or similar
- Proficiency in the state-of-the-art methods in software design, architecture and distributed system, e.g. microservices and RESTful APIs
- Knowledge of operational research techniques, mathematical optimization methods, prototyping and productizing complex algorithms
- Ability to work, collaborate and communicate in an agile and cross-functional team with engineers, product owners and other applied scientists
