JOB SUMMARY

The Manager, Fabric R&D is responsible for managing the process for fabric development from concept to SMS review and must have an understanding of luxury product, experience supporting RTW design and communicating with partners in Hong Kong.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Drive innovation and newness in fabrics and materials for RTW and soft accessories.
  • Prep for Tory meetings and help land fabrics on deadline.
  • Gather all fabric details and launch initial fabric data into PLM
  • Work with Materials Development team to develop counters for production where needed.
  • Partner with color and print teams to launch artwork and colors in time and on correct bases
  • Launch woven developments and handlooms for sampling.
  • Partner with Materials Development team (Supply Chain) to manage T&A to ensure trials are returned in time for review and SMS.
  • Partner with HB/FTW material teams on shared qualities for cross-category alignment
  • Partner with Special Project Design teams for Capsules (ex: Met Gala, Home, Gift-Giving, Lunar new year, Valentine's)
  • Foster positive relationships with cross-functional partners, mills, leather tanneries, and vendors
  • The team owns Sample material pre-books (development launch)
  • The team owns Local SMS


EDUCATION & PRIOR EXPERIENCE NEEDED
  • BA or equivalent.
  • Experience with PLM.
  • Clear understanding of supplier capabilities and good supplier relations.
  • Strong technical understanding.
  • Brand understanding and brand awareness
  • Must have experience working and liaising with Hong Kong.
