Senior Counsel, Intellectual Property

JOB SUMMARY

Tory Burch is looking for Senior Counsel to support our Associate General Counsel, Intellectual Property.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Advise business on intellectual property-related matters, including copyright, trademark, patent, rights of publicity, and brand enforcement.
• Manage day-to-day logistics of global trademark, copyright and patent portfolios, including coordination with outside portfolio counsel and involvement in all trademark oppositions, cancellations, and portfolio maintenance; review watch notices, and gather and prepare evidence for office actions, fame proceedings, and other trademark matters.
• Conduct trademark and design clearances and research on a variety of intellectual property issues.
• Manage case load of global intellectual property-related disputes, and assist with other intellectual property disputes and litigation, as needed.
• Manage US brand enforcement program, including primary responsibility for in-house enforcement program and management of team of private investigators engaged in the ongoing monitoring for counterfeits in the US marketplace. Partner with US law enforcement and customs officials and conduct US customs/law enforcement trainings.
• Responsible for tracking and reporting IP enforcement actions, including maintenance of database and creation of power-point presentations, excel charts, and other documents for internal and external business partners.
• Assist with global IP budget.

Qualifications and Experience:

• 8+ years of experience focused on intellectual property. Law firm experience required; in-house experience a plus. Admitted to practice in NY.
• Fashion industry and product knowledge preferred.
• Strong communication skills and critical thinking, excellent writing skills, great attention to technical and administrative detail, self-motivated, desire and ability to excel in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work and engage with individuals at all levels of the company.
