Position Overview
The Ralph Lauren Corporation, a global leader in luxury fashion and design, is building advanced analytics capabilities to support its Global business in North America, EMEA, and APAC. Our Global Development Center (GDC) is focus on building high-quality technology solutions to enhance the business & customer experience across channels and geographies. The AWS Redshift DBA is a critical role in Ralph Lauren's Analytics team, and will be an important part of operationalizing the most critical data and analytics initiatives for Ralph Lauren's digital business initiatives. Purpose & Scope: Based in Bengaluru, India this individual will work with the Global Analytics team to build, maintain, and optimize analytics solutions using the AWS Redshift platform for key data and analytics consumers including business and data analysts and data scientists covering our digital and physical retail channels and supply chain. Primary responsibilities include:
* Own the architecture for the AWS Redshift estate
* Partner with the analysts and data engineers on projects
* Own the database administration of the Enterprise Data Warehouse on AWS Redshift

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

* Own the architecture for our Enterprise Data Warehouse on AWS Redshift including cluster and node topology, configuration, and sizing.
* Define design standards for AWS Redshift for use by development and support teams. Partner with the Data Architect to define data modeling standards.
* Partner with data engineers on query design during projects and while performing analytics, and to analyze, troubleshoot and optimize application and ad-hoc queries in production.
* Work with data engineers on physical and logical data modeling.
* Provide operational management for our Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) in AWS Redshift across all environments, including configuration, maintenance, code migration, and incident response.
* Monitor and maintain uptime SLAs for the EDW
* Identify and execute cost, performance, and uptime optimizations.
* Partner with the Analysts and Business Partners on data extracts as needed.

Experience, Skills & Knowledge
Education and Experience
* A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, statistics, applied mathematics, data management, information systems, information science or a related quantitative field is required.
* The ideal candidate will have a combination of IT skills, data governance skills, analytics skills and Retail industry knowledge with a technical or computer science degree.
* Multiple years of work experience as a database administrator in an enterprise environment. At least 2 of that experience on AWS Redshift.
* Retail Industry knowledge would be a plus. Technical Knowledge/Skills
* Excellent and proven knowledge of AWS Redshift and SQL demonstrated through 2+ years in a Redshift DBA role.
* Excellent knowledge of related AWS technologies included Aurora, Redshift Spectrum, S3 and Athena.
* AWS Certification is preferred.
* Strong experience with advanced analytics tools and scripting languages such as R, Python, Scala, or similar.
* Strong experience partnering with data engineers to optimize ETL processes and helping to deploy them in production.
* Basic experience working with popular data discovery, analytics and BI software tools like MicroStrategy, Tableau, Qlik, PowerBI and others for semantic-layer-based data discovery.
* Basic understanding of popular open-source and commercial data science platforms such as Python, R, KNIME, Alteryx, others is a strong plus but not required/compulsory.
* Basic experience in working with data governance, data quality, and data security teams and specifically and privacy and security officers in moving data pipelines into production with appropriate data quality, governance and security standards and certification.
* Experienced in agile methodologies and capable of applying DevOps and increasingly DataOps principles to data pipelines to improve the communication, integration, reuse and automation of data flows between data managers and consumers across an organization Interpersonal Skills and Characteristics
* Strong experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic business environment.
* Required to be highly creative and collaborative. An ideal candidate would be expected to collaborate with both the business and IT teams to define the business problem, refine the requirements, and design and develop data deliverables accordingly. The successful candidate will also be required to have regular discussions with data consumers on optimally refining the data pipelines developed in nonproduction environments and deploying them in production.
