THE ROLE & THE TEAM
Zalando Lounge is the fastest growing sales channel of Zalando. In 2021 we grew by ca. 49%, breaching more than one billion EUR in yearly revenue for the first time. That's 14% of total Zalando Group revenue.

As a shopping club, Zalando Lounge's main premise is to offer exclusive bargain deals with limited availability to fashion conscious customers. At the core of our high-growth strategy is pricing and assortment steering. Machine learning, econometrics, and operations research drive our efforts to optimize billions of EUR in discount investments, as well as the curation of the tens of thousands of SKUs we bring online per day.

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to lead this opportunity area in close partnership with our applied scientists, economists, and engineers. You will be responsible for creating the product vision, strategy and delivering impact with products that optimize algorithmic decisions. The key success factors in this role are excellence in product methodologies, driving measurable impact, and collaborative leadership. As the key interface between our dedicated AI builder team and the business, your decisions will have a visible impact on the Zalando Lounge customer experience and Zalando Group level performance.

WHY YOU SHOULD BE INTERESTED
  • Create cutting-edge algorithmic data products that forecast and optimize demand for our assortment in collaboration with our in-house experts in economics, machine learning, and operations research.
  • Create a clear product vision and strategy. Define success metrics, milestones and drive execution. Validate concepts and measure value with experiments.
  • Structure complex topics into easy-to-understand messages and communicate effectively across all levels. Work with the team and stakeholders to develop and prioritize epics and user stories.
  • Drive delivery with our engineering and applied science teams, striving for maximum impact with available resources.
WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF
  • Experience: You have a track record of building and launching ML-based products that achieved a measurable impact, with at least 5 years of experience in Product Management and 1-2 years as a senior product manager leading topics. Ideally:
    • Experience in pricing, forecasting, or e-commerce
    • Experience in operations research, data science or machine learning
  • Strong business acumen: You maximize medium- to long-term impact with available resources based on your understanding of company strategy, commercial KPIs and how your own domain impacts these. You are a company-wide thought leader in your area and are fully aware of market and competitor developments.
  • Solution focus: You enable the team to identify the biggest opportunities and optimal solutions fast and reliably. You enjoy driving continuous improvement and innovation on product and team level.
  • Effective communication: You can bridge the gap between business and technology. In addition to outstanding verbal communication, you are used to writing vision documents, concise decision documents and know when to use a whiteboard to bring your point across.
