The Zalando Product Design community brings together 190+ product designers, content designers, and user researchers, each with their own unique mix of skills. Working in tandem with other design disciplines and connecting the dots between the product experience and Zalando's broader communications landscape, our content designers/UX writers use words to design experiences you want to have again.

Sitting at the intersection of UX and UI, content strategy, integrated messaging and localisation, they lead the charge on a variety of missions within a diverse range of business areas. Content Design (Berlin, Helsinki, Dublin)

We're looking for Principal, Senior, and mid-career Content Designers to write/design/collaborate on key moments across customer journeys, shape our voice and tone across programs, products, and domains, develop engaging, inspiring, and novel experiences as well as support your peers to rethink the way we and our partners create engaging content.

You will collaborate closely with developers, product managers, business stakeholders, designers, and other writers and work in cross-functional teams that have end-to-end responsibility for solving meaningful customer problems - from ideating through prototyping and user testing to bringing features live.

zDirect (Berlin)

We're looking for a Principal Content Designer to help us mature the content design practices in zDirect. This marketplace platform gives A-league and boutique fashion brands direct access to millions of Zalando customers. As a Principal you will collaborate with senior stakeholders to ensure our content meets strategic objectives and the needs of our partners. You will design content journeys from end-to-end, write microcopy for new features, and create how-tos for our partner-facing knowledge base. You will help guide new content designers as the team grows, and collaborate with teams outside zDirect to streamline communications across Zalando's overarching Partner Program.

We're particularly interested in content designers with B2B experience who have a knack for translating complex processes into easy, breezy, beautiful task flows.

Connected Retail (Helsinki)

We are looking for a Senior Content Designer to help us establish content design thinking in Connected Retail. Our Helsinki team gives brick-and-mortar retailers access to millions of Zalando customers (and vice versa). As a Senior you will influence, expand and translate product benefits into marketable narratives, shape our messaging, and help mature our design practice through the lens of UX writing. You will connect the dots between our product experience and Zalando's broader communications landscape, and collaborate with teams outside Connected Retail to evolve our brand voice across all Zalando partner initiatives.

Like with zDirect, we are particularly interested in B2B enthusiasts who enjoy high levels of abstraction, and designing (self service) tools that allow our partners, big and small, to do good business without death by dashboard.

Retail Core (Berlin)

We're looking for a Senior Content Designer who helps us grow the maturity of our content design practice in Retail Core. The Berlin team builds state-of-the art enterprise systems that connect Zalando seamlessly with our suppliers.

As a Senior Content Designer you will work with product designers, user researchers, and product managers to ensure our B2B experiences meet the needs of our partners. You will provide guidance and do hands-on work. This might be content for an end-to-end journey, microcopy for a new feature, helping us improve our design system, or a 'how-to' for our partner-facing knowledge base.
WHERE YOUR EXPERTISE IS NEEDED
Act as a customer advocate throughout the process while being a great sparring partner for your fellow designers and product managers.

Discover unmet needs for Zalando products and identify opportunities to make them more powerful and usable.

Define copy strategy that influences, expands, and translates product benefits and product (and) brand strategy into marketable narratives, compelling information architectures, and coherent messaging. Break down the complexity of various products into a seamless and enjoyable experience. Work with research to make sure we're focussing on the right problems and opportunities.

Design human-centred solutions using language that scales across markets and locales. Write informative and engaging interaction- and content-first copy. Ensure that experiences follow design principles to reach our communication objectives. Conceptualise inspirational, shoppable, and scalable content formats that help diverse types of customers feel confident in their comfort zone and comfortable with going beyond it. Set the standards for how experiences read, look, and feel.

Deliver the best copy (strategy) by shepherding it through to localisation. Provide excellent and clearly detailed documentation to product managers and engineers.
WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF
To land a senior or principal position you will show and explain creative, commercially-relevant design work and content you have planned, led, and realised.

While you have likely seen design orgs at different levels of scale and maturity before, you can demonstrate a solid range of content design/ UX writing skills built on top of brand, marketing, product marketing, or editorial experience and have a track record in human-centred storytelling.

You facilitate and communicate clearly, set stakeholder expectations, share knowledge and insights, explain design/copy rationales, build common understanding, and spread excitement around a customer experience vision. You are willing to challenge, convince, motivate, and inspire to get remarkable and marketable solutions delivered to your audiences.

You understand where e-commerce and the fashion industry stand today. You are excited about the technical opportunities on a vast, multi-market, multi-language platform whether we're talking microcopy, video, or chatbots that sound human (without pretending to be).
