About the Role

Development and Management of Product at Proto to Bulk Production/ Ensuring Product Safety /Quality Systems in factories; Conducting seasonal risk assessment/ line review of all products for pre alerts for Brand/Factories. Alerts merchants/ PQAs about potential Wash related issues; Imparts guidance & training to factory LDAs/task force co - coordinators/ PQAs on product wash quality issues, managing procedures and processes; Involves with PQAs at pre - production and production stages on product safety matters. Expertise of trouble shooting with product testing knowledge. Should be having all wash related information of wet & dry processing of Denims specially. Should be equipped with Garment Dyeing Process & Non-Denim & Knits Wash Expertise is added qualification. Candidates to have good Shop Floor Working knowledge of laundry & should be able to manage Laundry Processes in order to precisely guide advise vendors/ laundry teams on critical issue.

What You'll Do

1. Responsible for managing/monitoring the product safety function & ensuring/ approving the safety of the final product as per specifications
  • Review products and wash specific styles and alert merchants/PQAs on different product aesthetic relate issues and provide solutions to laundries before starting the production.
  • Ensure factory and laundries understand and absorb Gap Inc Wash Aesthetic of Dry & Wet Process and ensure good bulk consistency.
  • Review and do the risk assessment meetings along with MM/PD teams and Vendors and finalize action plan for avoiding quality concerns.
  • Monitor bulk and ensure all test related parameters are monitored by laundries and work along with PI team to avoid test related call outs.
  • Working along with Vendors LDA and train them and take help to ensure day to day quality moves smoothly.
  • Work with suppliers for getting faster responses and to provide technical support to factories.
  • Work with all cross functional teams for Washwell and sustainability parameters to support company goals of water savings.
  • Review and sign all GT and Shade bands and work with laundries to resolve issues related to shades to avoid wider shade bands for bulk.

2. Responsible for Supporting Brands on Wash Developments/Highly Effective in Problem shootings

3. Vendor Management
  • Interact with factory Teams to update them and implement the product safety from wash perspective.
  • Equipping Teams during new hire time/ replacement period is a continuous process

4. Ensuring preventive measures
  • Ensure implementation of all new requirements in time keeping the brand requirement of wash
  • Supporting laundries on ensuring all China High Risk merchandise pass and safety aspects of K&B pass for saliva and crocking.
  • Ensure all babies/ kids factories are fully equipped to handle and are equipped with required wash technology for different types of products.
  • Updating factories on new product safety requirements


Who You Are

1. Knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Strong technical background to advise/ discuss/ decides on various product safety issues
  • In depth knowledge and resources to meet and support merchandise safety
  • Ability to understand and support superiors for deciding/ finalizing and modifying product safety function
  • Ability to keep updated information for winning the confidence of factory TFCs/ QAs
  • Communication skills to convince the SF PI/ production teams on product safety issues
  • Honesty and Integrity to uphold company's business goals while dealing with stake holders
  • Positive attitude
  • Good Public Relations skills
  • Should possess emotional maturity

2. Minimum educational level:
  • BE/B Tech or equivalent with a strong industrial textile chemistry/ engineering background

3. Minimum experience:
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in laundry/ garment manufacturing industry
  • Very Strong wash related back ground and product development capability.
  • Very Strong understanding of all Dry Processes for Denims.
  • Should possess great knowledge of Denim washing and know all Laundry Wash technology
  • Adequate knowledge of garment manufacturing machines.
  • Adequate understanding/ knowledge of product safety function/ processes related to garmenting to identify the issues and provide appropriate solutions in time.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with all stakeholders.
