Olivia von Halle are seeking an experienced Product Developer to join our small but rapidly growing team at the Olivia von Halle studio in Bloomsbury. The ideal candidate is both practical and organised with an eye for detail and an enthusiasm for embellishment.

Responsibilities Will Include

  • Responsible for the entire end to end process of Knitwear, Embellishment & Black label collections
  • Establishing a close partnership with the Design Director & Product Director to develop the collections from initial design concept through to finished product
  • Understanding the creative aesthetic in order to research and present fashion focused, elevated ideas
  • Developing collections in line with the Design brief whilst maintaining budget and critical path
  • Working closely with Marketing & sales to identify new product opportunities
  • Responsible for the sourcing and development of yarns, trims & accessories.
  • Requesting and negotiating costs for respective areas and communicating these to the relevant teams
  • Seeking out new suppliers in line with brand/product requirements
  • Working with the Product Director to create and maintain the Critical path, ensuring that deadlines for all embellishment and Knitwear collections are plotted in and are realistic and achievable
  • Liaising with Manufacturers/embroiderers on all Development/production enquiries, ensuring that good relationships are built and nurtured and all enquiries are addressed
  • Ensuring that all development/production deadlines are communicated to the manufacturers and coordinating with them on a regular basis to ensure that lead times are maintained, and deliveries are prompt
  • Working alongside the Technical coordinator to prepare patterns for embroidery/embellishment
  • Coordinating with the Technical team to order all samples and follow fit progress from 1st toile to final pre-production fit approval
  • Managing relevant testing procedures and actioning lab tests alongside Technical Coordinator
  • Analysing risk and highlighting concerns to ensure that all collections are fit for production
  • Responsible for monitoring production shipments and chasing in packing lists, invoices and shipping documentation
  • Attending trade shows, visiting Embroidery factories 
  • Visiting factories - UK, China and elsewhere

The ideal Candidate

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Product Development, preferably within the luxury Womenswear sector
  • Experience working with a variety of suppliers and factories is a must, Far East experience is preferable
  • Sound understanding of the critical path
  • Technical knowledge of garment construction and manufacturing required
  • Knitwear & Embroidery knowledge required
  • Experience working both CMT and fully factored
  • Experience working to tight deadlines in a highly pressurised environment
  • Must be highly organised, proactive and a strategic thinker
  • Must be a confident negotiator
  • Good at building and maintaining relationships.
  • Willing to travel for work if required
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to change and respond positively to new challenges
  • Proficient in Excel, Word & Outlook.
