Job Summary:

We seek top talent for a high-visibility role to join our Mobile engineering organization. This is a progressive, forward thinking organization that believes in a product culture and agile ways of working.

This position is for a Manager, Mobile Engineering who will help us plan, design and execute mobile commerce and engagement strategy.

Manages multiple complex work streams required to execute large scale initiatives and programs that deliver highly reliable systems on-schedule, on-budget, to the committed scope using agile development practices. Provides clear direction and leads team(s) in the areas of scheduling, technical direction, planning, and standard development practices. Identifies opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • Ability to lead, develop software engineering teams to deliver high quality products within scope, on time and to budget
  • Ability to drive strategy through influence with leadership qualities which engineers recognize and respect
  • Ability to innovate and lead explorations into new technologies and strategies
  • Define & drive technical product roadmap and provide leadership in an innovative and fast-paced environment
  • Be responsible for the overall planning, execution, and success of complex technical projects
  • Ability to develop community of practices to facilitate discussions with technical team on platform-wide considerations, driving improvement and efficiencies, and providing leadership.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate software development resources in support of the overall Product roadmap
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with leadership and teams within technology, product management, business units, brands and across external alliance partners
  • Skilled ability to foster continuous improvement and innovation; ability to accept and lead change initiatives throughout the organization
  • Partnering with Digital & Enterprise architects and infrastructure & operations teams to deliver technical innovations in support of emerging business needs and progressing these ideas from concepts to experiments and scaled models with focus on flexibility, reuse, and overarching extensibility.


ESSENTIAL ABILITIES, SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's in computer science, Information Systems or equivalent. Master's degree is preferred.
  • 8+ years' experience delivering and operating large scale, highly available web/mobile applications including 1-3 years as Hands on Technical Lead. Prior experience in retail domain is a plus.
  • 2+ years of experience working with distributed teams.
  • Manage a team of software engineers, ensuring high quality of work coupled with high speed of delivery
  • Experience in rearchitecting legacy applications and systems to cloud using Cloud native architecture and technologies
  • Must be a hands-on technical leader and should have proficiency building Mobile applications leveraging React Native or similar and consuming API based backend.
  • The new mobile app stack is based on React Native while the apps are based on Swift and Objective-C . The older apps need to be supported as you create new and innovative versions on the new apps with the newer technology stack
  • Deep knowledge of API (REST, GraphQL), API Management and building scalable and high-performance Web APIs
  • Experience with at least 2+ years hands on experience with Cloud based platform like AWS or similar (Serverless technologies, AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, Kinesis Streams, SNS, SQS, Cognito, AWS Amplify, Elasticsearch, AWS Cloud Formation, S3, VPC, etc.)
  • Must have hands-on experience of 5+ years in developing websites / Mobile apps with some of the technologies like - NodeJS with JavaScript/Typescript or similar, React Native or similar, ReactJS or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems fundamentals
  • Strong understanding of databases, NoSQL data stores, storage and distributed persistence technologies and work experience of 5+ years
