POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Copywriter is responsible for the conceptualization, creation and implementation of all brand messaging and copy for both True & Co & Warners brands. Must be a proven leader, able to develop engaging and inspiring copy while meeting business objectives.

The Senior Copywriter works closely with the brand, marketing and merchandising teams at all levels to develop on brand copy and concepts that can be messaged across all channels. The right candidate for this role is expected to produce original solutions and think big picture to create highly effective campaigns and content focused on engaging customers and building brand awareness to ultimately drive sales.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB:
  • Own and evolve the brand voice for both True & Co and Warners brands, brief internal/external partners, freelancers and collaborators.
  • Create original, innovative, clear, persuasive brand copy that strategically delivers key messaging that meets business needs and promotes seasonal campaigns, key launches and product stories across all channels (360); ensure consistency across all global channels, including but not limited to: brand websites, Amazon, emails, paid and organic social, Packaging, POS, digital ads, and PR/Media.
  • Create and edit scripts for advertising campaign video spots, responsible for on-set direction and interaction with cast as needed to achieve required content.
  • Drive concept and messaging creative development - from ideation to execution - for multi-channel campaigns and collateral.
  • Partner with creative and cross-functional teams to develop seasonal content direction and messaging strategy for branding and advertising initiatives:
  • Work with marketing/merchandising/media to define primary messaging goals and campaign/content KPIs when possible. Use learnings to implement actionable changes that optimize future campaigns/content.
  • Translate product stories and marketing needs into seasonal content that meets both business and brand objectives, building consumer interest and engagement across all consumer touch points.
  • Understand the business needs for wholesale partners to create effective marketing materials to support their business initiatives, while maintaining our brand standards.
  • Oversee product and color naming, as well as technical product copy (created by freelancer), review for accuracy and brand alignment.
  • Skillful communicator, able to articulate and present engaging concepts as needed to ensure concept buy in from cross-functional partners and leadership.
  • Liase with the legal team to clear names/colors, secure copyrights and trademarks and keep accurate records of all written intellectual proprieties.
  • Maintain systems and copy bank for all copy; create database of all copy rounds, both current and final product copy, cleared product/franchise names, short form and long form descriptions, and any other product attributes or marketing copy.
  • Ensure accuracy of all copy execution (proof reading).

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Experience:
  • 10+ years at a comparable brand/in house agency, advertising agency or in-house agency.
  • Proven creative ability.
  • A solid understanding of marketing and advertising principles
  • An exceptional copywriting portfolio with self-crated samples of multiple types of writing including brand copy, ad/marketing copy, product naming and descriptions, long and short form copy.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • An understanding of the latest trends and their role within a commercial environment.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to actively contribute to strategic brainstorming, campaign development, creative brief development and creative execution.

Education: BA in English, journalism, communications or a related field

Skills:
  • Exceptional writing skills, including the ability to write in a range of voices and styles for a variety of brands.
  • Experience with strategic concepting, campaign development and creative execution.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working collaboratively across multiple teams.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and effectively juggle diverse writing demands.
