POSITION SUMMARY: The Buyer, E-Commerce is a seasoned business manager with experience running multiple departments. The Buyer will be responsible for addressing and managing e-commerce challenges and opportunities to support and execute strategic initiatives to achieve sales targets.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB:
  • Handle all aspects of buying for assigned departments and classifications, ensuring that financial targets and plans are met. Set product strategies that align to ck.com/brand strategies.
    • Align categories with other Sr/Buyers to ensure synergy across ck.com assortment.
    • Work to lead entire buying team on special projects/capsules.
    • Work to own long term growth strategies (i.e. niche categories, new opportunities, etc)
  • Responsible for growth and development of team of 3 junior buyers
    • Develop soft skills & direct/redirect team members when necessary
    • Have business integrity with team, modeling appropriate behaviors
    • Give team members opportunities for visibility & growth; delegates appropriately
    • Challenge thought process & guide team to a nuanced understanding of customer
    • Provide meaningful feedback in a time appropriate manner
  • Develop pre-season assortment vision tied to site & brand priorities
    • Collaborate with global (NA, EU + Asia) buying, merchandising and wholesale teams to create a balanced assortment in terms of: brand appropriateness, fashion vision, quality, fit, value, price point, style/SKU count and key item depth
    • Identify opportunities to maximize sales & profitability; suggest test and learn opportunities
    • Give appropriate direction to team, depending on level
  • Take lead role in senior management meetings, presenting in-depth analysis of respective departments and classifications; tells product story succinctly & "sell" point of view.
    • Be the voice of ck.com buying, filling in for Sr. Director when necessary
    • Build and maintain effective business plans and relationships with licensees and third party vendors.
  • Demonstrate advanced industry wide product knowledge. Deep dive into competitive shopping. Adjust assortment based on findings.
  • Communicate with design, merchandising, and retail teams on hindsight of ecomm business.
  • Partner with Planning on managing the Open To Buy, taking action as necessary; recommending changes to reorders, pricing strategies and markdowns.
  • Drive online product strategy thru partnership with Site Merchant and Site Experience team. Identify long term site enhancements & voice buying perspective through updates/changes.
  • Partner with Retail Stores team to drive product strategy where possible, especially with outside vendors.
  • Partner with North America/Global Marketing to align on product priorities within departments/divisions. Push for representation of priorities in global & supplemental shoots.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Experience: Minimum of 5 - 7 years retail buying experience with 1 - 2 years of e-

Commerce exposure (indirect)/experience.

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent

  • Strong understanding of the digital space, ck.com customer, and its unique needs
  • Strong leadership skills; vocal voice of Buying Team
  • Ability to create, develop & execute e-commerce strategic initiatives.
  • Must be highly organized & possess strong analytical skills.
  • Flexible to deadline demands, ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills; Strong presenter to upper management
  • Must be self-motivated
