JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Production Planning is immersed in the category working closely with partners in Planning, Merchandising, PD & Production, Account Services and Business Units to meet financial, commercial and operational goals of the category (e.g., sales plan, margins, on-time, inventory targets).

The Director will be responsible for leading the long range and seasonal capacity planning processes, providing clear buying calendar milestones and cut-offs for the various deliveries, proactively identifying delivery risks and providing options, overseeing timely purchase order placement, monitoring, managing and communicating deliveries and providing solutions to the business in the event of delivery delays and providing reporting on key category KPIs.

The Director will support the production planning and category leads in championing agility and responsiveness models and strategies including establishing production lead-time targets and KPI's, expanding the global scope of decoupling and postponement strategies, raw material platforming strategies, and streamlining and reducing planning cycle times from forecast to ready date.

JOB DESCRIPTION

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1) Pre-season and project planning
  • Ensure S&OP processes are delivering best in class levels to maximize revenues, reduce cost and inventory, and achieve best in class delivery performance
  • Lead recurring business reviews; reviewing and challenging assumptions in plans, identifying risks and opportunities while helping drive consensus
  • Develop and execute strategies to meet supply chain targets and KPI's including on-time performance, in-full performance, inventory turns, forecast accuracy, product availability, stock-outs, replenishment
  • Support Merchant's needs and business requirements by working with the PD&Production VP to allocate based on calendar and product needs; including late adds, chase product, quick-turn styles, web exclusive and test product
  • Work with Production Management to help manage all production forecasting, constraint planning, rough cut capacity and order scheduling
  • In partnership with PD leads, own category capacity plan and on going review of forecasts and actuals against capacity as well as flow, mitigating and escalating risk as appropriate
  • Communicate appropriate buying schedule to merchants and business units, with an awareness of approval and market dates


2) Seasonal/Operational Planning
  • Create buy calendar(s) per development and placement track. Validate with factory, country office, accounting for COO and product variability
  • Develop tools and process to optimize both capacity utilization and cost savings opportunities with country office and vendor partners
  • Partners with PD team on lead time information (understand individual products and how they tie back to the appropriate buying schedule, with an understanding of desired in-store dates)
  • Partners with PD team on buy ready status and communication by ensuring MOQ file is validated before passing to factories
  • Manage information and communication to and from buying offices and internal partners.


3) PO Placement and Management
  • Manages team in purchase order placement, timely delivery confirmation
  • Responsible for overseeing the creation, validation, and maintenance of all PO data in SAP.
  • Implement SAP, technology and process improvements that improve OTIF and planning capability
  • Maximize efficiency in open PO tracking, revision, expediting and postponement activities
  • Proactively communicating to factories, agents and suppliers to insure on-time deliveries.
  • Proactively review and ensure suppliers are tracking to expected production milestones


4) Master Data Management
  • Supports team in system issue resolution in PLM, SAP and data flows between the two systems
  • Maintain relevant system and master data to support accuracy of key planning outputs


5) Reporting & Analytics
  • Provide end to end supply chain visibility and diagnostic, descriptive and predictive analytics
  • Ensures frequent and professional collaboration and communication with Product Development, Planning and Merchant teams, keeping teams up to date on business and performance developments
  • Support cross functional partners through insightful reporting, process improvement recommendations and best practices
  • Measure supply planning KPIs to improve and/or maintain business objectives as it pertains to the S&OP organization
  • Analyze industry trends and evolving technology to proactively identify opportunities to improve visibility & transparency within the supply chain

EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS:
  • BA/BS required; 10-12 years of experience in production & supply planning. Past experience in retail, CPG, or athletic industries is a plus
  • Understanding of product creation process & calendar in accessories and/or footwear
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to present effectively in meeting
  • Advanced Excel skills. SAP systems knowledge preferred. Working knowledge of PowerPoint
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with a sense of priority for deadlines and attention to detail
  • Knowledge and/or experience with analytical supply chain planning models, forecasting systems, inventory planning and management systems
  • Strong project management, analytical and problem-solving skills
