JOB SUMMARY

An opportunity to join a rapidly expanding fashion and lifestyle brand as a Senior Buying & Merchandising Manager on multiple product categories. The main role will be to lead the increased sales and profitability of the department, through planning and delivering a balanced and cohesive range into stores and on site, that reflects the Brand vision, emerging trends and market needs. You will also support the business through the provision of accurate and commercially aware retail analysis and information.

JOB DESCRIPTION

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Seeks and understands the brand; its values and vision. Is also aware of strategies for the department/brand and ensures these are continually delivered.
  • Develop together with the Senior. Director the overall category strategies that reflect changing shopper preferences and deliver our financial targets.
  • Partner with Planning partner to ensure full optimization of product performance from demand, markdown, stock intake and returns to ensure financial targets are achieved / exceeded vs Plan.
  • Closely collaborating with cross functional partners such as Wholesale, Retail, CRM, PR, Marketing, VM and Ecom site Merch to drive the Product strategy on a day to day basis. Ensuring the upmost visibility to key investment lines alongside new product messages and launches.
  • Provides sophisticated strategic updates based on sales risks and opportunities for the Business. Be commercially astute and proactive, evaluating the business trends, putting forward action plans to successfully drive the business forward.
  • Collaborate with your Planning partner to build seasonal financial plans by highlighting areas of opportunity, category sell through etc, thereby shaping the assortment architecture of the Region.
  • Drive the Buying process across all categories for both the Retail and Ecommerce channels (planning, new integration of buy processes, hindsights, OTB, buy prep, buys, review and sign offs and post market meetings).
  • Constantly review the market and external competitors, through regular comp shops, store visits and research, to ensure the collection that is delivered to market is appropriate - reacting where necessary.
  • Coach, train, support, challenge and lead direct reports to maintain high levels of performance and working practices.
  • Drive the relationship with Corporate (New York), sharing our results and requirements (exclusives, events, training) to generate additional sales and to impact the development of the future collections.
  • Raises the profile of the Buying & Merchandising team within the business, representing the department in meetings and always presenting the department in a positive and professional manner.
  • Ensure all Company policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Travel needs globally; buys, store visits, market visits.


EDUCATION & PRIOR EXPERIENCE NEEDED
  • Extensive experience in fashion retail buying and merchandising, with a sound understanding of the competitive landscape.
  • A strong leader with excellent people management experience in coaching and development of a team at different experience levels.
  • Confident, assertive, persuasive team player - able to build and develop strong relationships with other internal teams and external partners.
  • Innovative commercial thinker - supporting business efficiency, improvements and growth needs.
  • A balance of creativity and commercial acumen.
  • Has a strong fashion eye and passion for product.
  • Able to show commercial aptitude. Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent communicator/presenter.
  • A fast learner, able to work independently and cross functionally in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
  • Someone who uses initiative with a hands-on approach and the ability to prioritize.
  • Strong communication skills; strong English verbal and written communication skills.
