Overview
Reporting to the Head of Sustainability, the Environmental Responsibility Manager will work closely with all members of the Sustainability Team, collaboratively across the business and with external partners to ensure that sustainability standards are upheld, policies implemented and targets are achieved. This role is based in our London Head Office.

Your Mission
  • Be the point-person for our environmental management systems and targets: develop and own this
  • Own carbon, water and waste foot printing. Be responsible for developing Environmental Management System, targets and roadmaps to achievement; including monitoring progress against Science Based Targets, carbon in setting and offsetting strategy, water foot printing and waste reductions
  • Be a broad sustainability expert. Provide support and technical advice to the wider business to enable them to undertake their roles and responsibilities for reducing impact
  • Help upkeep the supplier operational environmental commitments & expectations
  • Support cross-industry projects, consortiums & working groups around your subject matter expertise , including Clean by Design, UN Fashion Charter for Climate Action, and more
  • Oversee environmental reporting, including CDP annual disclosure
  • Draft guides, policies and environmental standards for internal teams and at the company-level
  • Keep abreast of regulations around waste, water and carbon, and more generally extended producer responsibility (EPR) and environmental reporting
  • Constantly look to implement solutions to increase efficiency and bring innovative solutions
  • Support with internal workshops & training
  • Ensure that sustainability-related measures and policies are being adhered to and updated, maintaining Stella McCartney's sustainability commitments and standards
  • Support calculation of progress towards key Sustainability KPIs and targets
  • Support with operations-related sustainability communications
  • Key tasks will include research, data analysis, preparing presentations and report content and supporting in the roll out of strategic initiatives


Your Talent
  • Passionate about creating measurable positive change within the fashion industry
  • Strong technical understanding of sustainability topics such as Environmental Management Systems, carbon management & reporting, the circular economy, climate change, biodiversity and resource conservation
  • A self-starter: uses initiative and owns projects from start to completion, with a proven record of delivering targets
  • Delivers work to a high standard and pays close attention to detail, comfortable navigating uncertainty and able to work with a high degree of autonomy
  • Ability to work in a complex - sometimes challenging - fast-paced environment and being comfortable with change, managing time effectively, remaining flexible and taking initiative during busy times to ensure a quick turnaround
  • Understanding of business operations, luxury fashion and supply chains
  • A people person: able to develop and maintain strong relationships internally and externally, ensuring that projects flourish
  • Willing to challenge the status quo, bringing analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Big picture thinking - understanding of how your day job supports broader goals and intentions
  • Ability to cover a range of work topics simultaneously and move between each seamlessly
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills. Communicates with impact and has the ability to inspire!
  • Ability to track and follow up with multiple streams of work internally, to ensure targets and policies are implemented effectively
  • Technical understanding of GHG inventories in line with the GHG Protocol, water foot printing, waste management, impact measurement and data analysis
  • Knowledge of environmental policies in UK and EU, and remains informed with regards to key markets worldwide
  • Strategically minded with commercial awareness
  • Ability to track project progress and present succinctly back to team and relevant stakeholders, recommending informed solutions to problems


Systems and Essentials
  • Experiance in a relevant discipline (e.g. sustainability, energy management, climate change, environmental sciences, environmental policy)
  • Highly competent IT skills, particularly with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Italian-speaking desirable, though not essential
