Overview:
Reporting to the Head of Sustainability, the Sustainability Coordinator will work closely with all members of the Sustainability Team, collaboratively across the business and with external partners to ensure that sustainability standards are upheld, policies implemented, and targets are achieved. This role is based in our London Head Office.

Your Mission:
  • Deliver across a broad range of sustainability focuses, including circular initiatives, waste reduction, packaging, impact measurement, biodiversity, transparency and traceability, reporting, philanthropy, policy and communications (both internally and externally)
  • Be a broad sustainability expert: provide support and technical advice to the wider business to enable them to support sustainability goals through their roles and responsibilities
  • Conduct research and recommendation reports to support company sustainability strategic objectives
  • Maintain company transparency + integrity: support on production, verification & validation of internal & external communications, remaining mindful about retaining accurate language & claims to ensure no accidental greenwashing
  • Support on internal policy development and implementation
  • Help drive circularity initiatives across the business; support with identification of and engagement with key partners
  • Stay on top of changes in legislation, industry standards, industry achievements to advise team and integrate strategically
  • Support team with sustainability-focused reporting, & calculation of progress towards key Sustainability KPIs and targets, taking ownership of delivery where necessary
  • Supporting other Sustainability Team members with projects and activities, including developing required materials & presentations
  • Support drafting internal policies
  • Support with sustainability-related communications around products, innovative materials, key concepts and also with SMC Sustainability Report
  • Support with keeping team calendar updated with sustainability conferences, events & occasions

  • Holistic understanding of sustainability topics and their interconnectivity, including the circular economy, climate change, animal rights, biodiversity & resource conservation, ethics & social welfare
  • A self-starter: takes initiative and is able to own projects from start to completion
  • Delivers work to a high standard, paying close attention to detail & prioritise workload effectively
  • Willing to challenge the status quo, always looking for ways we can do better, bringing analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills and is comfortable navigating uncertainty
  • Be an anti-greenwashing expert
  • Be both a strong team player, whilst also able to work with a high degree of autonomy
  • Ability to work in a complex - sometimes challenging - fast-paced environment and being comfortable with change, managing time effectively, remaining flexible and taking initiative during busy times to ensure a quick turnaround
  • Understanding of business operations, luxury fashion and supply chains
  • A people person, with strong stakeholder management skills: able to develop and maintain strong relationships internally and externally, ensuring that projects flourish
  • Ability to cover a range of work topics simultaneously and move between each seamlessly
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (written and verbally). Communicates with impact and has the ability to inspire!
  • Knowledge of frameworks, policies & working groups within and relating to the fashion industry, including UN SDGs, UNFCCA, NY Fashion Act and SMI Terra Carta
  • Strategically minded with commercial awareness
  • Ability to track projects against timelines and present succinctly with clear actions
  • Big picture thinking - understanding of how your day job supports broader goals and intentions


Systems and Essentials:
  • Experience in relevant discipline (e.g. sustainable business, climate change, environmental sciences, environmental policy, conservation)
  • Highly competent IT skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Italian-speaking desirable, though not essential
