Department Description:

You will contribute to setting-up the TH Design team in Hong Kong, which is fully part of the TH Global Design team (based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands). This local hub is based in Hong Kong and focused to design styles for the Chinese consumer.

Next to the local Design team, this Hub will also have a dedicated Product Development team based in Hong Kong, who you will work closely with. Together with the local Merchandise team, the objective of the Hub is to create better local relevant product, in line with the TH Global Design direction.

The Role:
  • Based in PVH Hong Kong office, as part of the Tommy Hilfiger (TH) Global Design team
  • Reporting into the Design Manager of the Hong Kong team
  • Responsible for all graphics for the (seasonal and non-seasonal) TH styles developed for the Chinese market
  • Ensure close collaboration and full alignment with TH Global Design team (the Netherlands) and provide input to the Global team on China market specifics, trends etc.
  • Perform initial (creative) research and development to use as input for graphics and prints for collection (e.g. new techniques), including participating in research/development/shopping trips
  • Develop sketches/artworks/protos in alignment with Global Design Brief and Merchandising range plan using initial research, and present to key stakeholders (e.g. Merchandising) at sketch/proto review, and revise based on feedback
  • Collaborate with Product Development and Trims for development and sourcing of trims in different qualities (e.g. tapes)
  • Responsible for design and development of certain prints/trims/graphics for TH China styles, upon request by Womenswear/Menswear Design
  • Create and upload complete/detailed artworks, and handover to Product Development for BOM creation/uploading to PLM
  • Advise TH Design Global on graphic design-related trends in China and alignment on print/colors (e.g. seasonal graphics)
  • Support in operational Design tasks, e.g. drafting sketch- and artwork-related overviews that are to be approved by Legal and creation of presentation decks for seasonal concepts and special projects
  • Discuss graphics/designs/techniques/protos at key design meetings to ensure fit into collection, quality of product, and innovativeness
  • Prepare presentation of collection (e.g. artwork boards) to stakeholders at key meetings, make revisions based on feedback, and send out revised/additional artworks
  • Support Product Development in reviewing prints on protos (e.g. check strike-offs, sizes, colours) and SMS (in-house/on-site) and provide production commentsto ensure optimal production and quality of products
  • Advise Product Development (based on input from Merchandising) on potential product adjustments to increase margins
  • Support Product Development with production process of protos and samples (rarely bulk) by clarifying artwork files or making design revisions where necessary to solve production issues
  • Provide comments on graphic placement and print after fittings
  • Compile and maintain Graphics library by archiving Design input (e.g. sketches, fabrics, samples)

  • 4-5 years experience specializing within the fashion industry in China market. Needed for creating allover artworks, graphics, badges and labels
  • Knowledge of printing techniques a must
  • Knowledge and fully proficient in Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Ability to hand draw desirable
  • Strong awareness of current trends and capability to do research
  • Ability to communicate in a clear and efficient way and to work closely with the Graphic/ Print Designer and Designers
  • Respect and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work in a busy, changeable environment
  • Fluent in English
