The Team

The PVH RETAIL department is located in Amsterdam and oversees the merchandising for O&O retail stores in all European countries.

The Position

The Tommy Hilfiger European Full Price Retail team is seeking a highly motivated, hardworking, and experienced Merchandiser to join the team at the head office in Amsterdam. As Senior Merchandiser, you will be responsible for overseeing the buying and merchandising of the Menswear & Licensing business, collaborating & coordinating with the local buying teams across Europe to optimize performance while respecting the fashion direction and managing a direct report.

The Senior Merchandiser is responsible for partnering with management to create and execute the merchandise strategies for assigned departments to meet or exceed financial plans for O&O retail stores. The merchandiser acts as a partner of cross functional international teams. Further regular interaction with: License partners, retail operations, planning and allocation, visual merchandising and country teams.

The Merchandiser is facilitating the EU O&O buys and is a strong partner and gatekeeper for the overall PVH RETAIL strategy in alignment and cooperation with Retail Management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Foster an environment of continual training, improvement and development for direct report
  • Acts as expert on competition and industry trends; ability to translate into innovative, relevant, fashion-forward product
  • Develop and execute strategies utilizing knowledge based on analysis of business and competitive set
  • Develop strong internal relationships with cross-functional partners including: country merchandisers, visual merchandising, store design, retail operations, planning, internal design divisions.
  • Partner with the e-commerce team to support online expansion and testing opportunities
  • Collaborate with planning to develop effective class plans and execute them

  • Liaise with HQ teams in preparation of seasonal product training materials to be diffused to the markets

The Ideal Candidate:
  • Min 4 years' work experience in merchandising/ buying
  • BA degree in fashion, business and the other related majors
  • Team player with excellent communication skills
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Ability to manage areas of responsibility independently
  • Ability to analyze and summarize data for the Manager in order to identify and address potential business performance issues
  • High numerical and analytical strengths
  • Fluent in English - additional languages are a plus
  • Excellent organizational and negotiating skills necessary
  • Ideally with background in a Denim/ Jeans brand
  • Unrestricted ability to travel
  • Prior retail experience is preferred
