The Director, Selling Technology is responsible for ensuring that selling technology and point-of-sale systems appropriately support and evolve with the needs of our business, our customers, and our colleagues. Reporting into Director of Omnichannel Strategy & Technology, this Director works across the organization, with CX and Operations business partners, stores, talent development, partners, and Macy's technology and digital partners to ensure that Bloomingdale's technology needs are met. This b road-based and strategic leadership role requires an entrepreneurial mix of strategy development, exceptional project management skills, an awareness of various retail business models, and the ability to manage several high-priority objectives at any given time.

Role and Responsibilities:
  • Bloomingdale's key stakeholder for selling technology across channels with a focus on store and colleague tools and point-of-sale systems (POS and mobile). Works with Macy's Technology partners to ensure Bloomingdale's needs are supported, including development and enhancements.
    • Oversees the manager of POS to ensure that daily business requirements are met, including parameter programing, presell coding, receipt verbiage, special departments, policy updates, etc.
    • Escalation point for POS incident identification and business impact; oversees execution of Bloomingdale's resolution, including bridge calls and store communication.
  • Key partner in launch and evolution of all selling and service technology from validation, ideation, implementation, and ongoing optimization. Represents Bloomingdale's in work with Macy's and 3rd party vendors on both new and existing technology projects.
  • Store partner for technology implementation and adoption.
  • Partner to the stores and CX business strategists. Ensures that existing tech is functioning as intended, maintained to support the business need, and is meeting risk assessment requirements.
  • Serves as liaison between Macy's Technology and Bloomingdale's, sharing needs and advocating as appropriate. Works with Macy's Technology to successfully open new Bloomingdale's stores and complete renovations.
  • Responsible for communication pertaining to technology updates. Partners with Talent Development to support education of technology.
  • Bloomingdale's point person for technology and hardware management, including tech issue escalations, hardware requests and purchasing, cell phone management, issues with remote access, network drives and email, telephone installations.

Qualifications & Competencies

• Bachelor's Degree from a 4-year college or university

• 6+ years of relevant work experience

• Excellent project management skills and strong sense of urgency

• Balance both leading a team and influencing stakeholders across Macy's & Bloomingdale's with or without direct reporting authority

• Customer-centric mindset and experience with cross-functional collaboration.

• Intellectually curious with strong analytical skills, drawing actionable insights and recommendations

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to effectively share technical information, communicate technical issues and solutions to all levels of business.

• Ability to juggle multiple projects - can identify primary and secondary objectives, prioritize tasks, and communicate timeline to team members.

• Ability to think creatively, strategically, and technically.

• Maintains confidentiality and security of sensitive company information.

• Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and Company needs.

• Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
