Denim Design Intern

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Design Denim Intern will support the Design Denim team in the following tasks:

• Assist denim designer with concepts and wash research.  Help create sketch and inspiration boards.
• Help develop new denim details and ideas.
• Learn how denim washes are created and how to select the most appropriate fabrics for the desired wash.
• Assist with maintaining fabric and wash libraries.
• Understand how comprehensive denim technical packages are created, and what information they comprise of.
• Learn how to properly spec a denim garment.
• Help organize sample rack and fit binders.
• Understand how standard fit specifications work with different fabrics and washes.
• Attend fittings and take fit notes.
• Assist with fabric boards.

 REQUIREMENTS:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Fashion Design with specialty in Denim. 0 – 1 year of experience, or strong internship experience. Ability to hand sketch. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
• Can handle tasks with speed and works well under pressure.
• Strong knowledge in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Strong sense of draping logic and nature.
• Hand and computer illustrations for sketches and technical flats.
• Flat patternmaking skills, sewing by hand and industrial machine.
• Works well independently and as a team player.
• Able to work full-time at 40 hours/week.
