JOB TITLE: PRODUCT DEVELOPER / BUYER ACCESSORIES
JOB TYPE: full time
REPORTING TO: Senior buyer
LOCATION: Kew Gardens
JOB PURPOSE
Working within the design function and in partnership with Global Sourcing, Technical, Merchandising and Production to ensure product is developed/produced according to brand values, design vision and commercial requirements. To input into the critical path from the proto sample request stage to delivery into stores; taking into account all functions and realistic timescales of the process.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Selection Process
- To manage and drive Critical Path (CP) ensuring proto’s and costs are ready for buy and fit meetings. Working on 1st costings for designs: ready for buys meeting and line sheet presentation. Analysing previous styles/ best and worst sell throughs etc needed for buy meetings alongside Merchandising.
Range Buying
- Present & advise bought collection Collate all information after selection meeting in order to pass to relevant suppliers via Global Sourcing team
Includes:
- All comments / decisions discussed to start the process for further developments, including all new sampling Quantities & colour breakdowns ensuring they are in line with UK throughout the season. Quantities bought / ratios etc for all product specific category. Regular liaison with Global Sourcing regarding confirmed orders and fabric Calculate colour breakdowns for each style
Product Development
- Development of all facets for fully factored garments including trims / linings / colour approvals & daily correspondence re ongoing development of range. Ensure all businesses are updated on all changes / amends / cancellations / throughout the season on any garment. Sit in all fits for range. Work with Designers / Trim Buyer / Fabric buyer for CMT, to ensure end product is within target price. Liaise with pattern cutting and tech teams on changes to fit alongside design teams. Identify good sellers / new styles using stock cloths Update buy plan budgets
Price Negotiation & Retails
- Support Global Sourcing team with margin and supplier negotiation when required. Check all final costings, and ensure final Retail is within target
Deliveries / Critical Paths
- Deliveries - negotiate deliveries for HK and all FF, and ensure these are kept on track with regards to fitting / issues to meet delivery date. Keep critical path spread sheet updated with direction from Global Sourcing team
Other
- Store memo’s / communication Press office – communication re pricing / delivery of stock Organising & follow up on returns of faultys / alterations of garments Point person for Customer feedback and ensuring actions are followed up on
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Experience with shoes and handbags Commercial and customer/ brand focussed Passion for Accesories Strong numeric skills Organised and pro-active Fabrics & fit knowledge
