Job Overview: The SEO Content Strategist is a copywriting-focused role that supports the expansion of the organic reach for the Bloomingdale's website. In addition to the SEO department, the SEO Content Strategist will also work with other members of the Bloomingdale's Marketing and Merchandising divisions, as well as outside vendors and agencies. The SEO Content Strategist will be involved in the creation of content across many different verticals and families of business. The primary responsibility will be copywriting and creating content that is both optimized for search engines as well as speaks to the Bloomingdale's customer, with a focus on elevating copy to meet the internal Bloomingdale's copywriting style guide. The primary focus will be on writing and editing copy blocks for category pages, product pages, local pages, and editorial articles. This role supports the complete cycle of content development, and the SEO Content Strategist will also be expected to use industry and competitive research to identify optimization opportunities.

Essential Functions:

• Copywriting for key landing pages, ensuring that all copy and optimizations adhere to SEO best practices and follow the internal Bloomingdale's copywriting style guide.

• Reviewing the content output of our agency vendors, independently editing their content and providing feedback.

• Implement optimizations and copy on landing pages using our CMS (Content Management System).

• Strategic review of Bloomingdale's SEO performance data using sources like Google Search Console and Adobe Analytics to identify new content opportunities.

• Conduct keyword research using tools like Google Keyword Planner and SEMrush.

Qualifications and Competencies:

Bachelor's Degree from a 4-year college or university

3-5 years related experience
  • Practices open and continuous communication, values keeping others informed, effectively presenting information in a clear, concise manner
  • Strong editorial and copywriting skills
  • Excellent leadership, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across functional lines and at many levels
  • Ability to think creatively, strategically, and technically.
  • Understanding of websites, text editors and spreadsheet creation
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and Company needs


Physical Requirements:
  • Requires prolonged periods of sitting, with occasional standing
  • Occasionally requires walking, bending, reaching, hearing, and talking
  • Continuous use of computers and other office equipment
  • Frequently lift/move up to 25 lbs.
