JOB PURPOSE

To facilitate improvement activities through training and coaching functional specialists to implement safety, productivity, quality and cost improvements in line with the Internal Manufacturing roadmap targets.

To facilitate Lean Academy Training and lead the Internal Manufacturing team to develop their capability to identify and implement improvements for themselves.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive the internal manufacturing team to monitor production performance and plan the actions required to deliver the business targets for safety, quality, productivity, leadtime and cost.
  • Coach teams regarding the use of visual management to drive ownership of area performance and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Be the first point of contact for multiple area teams for problem solving support.
  • Identify and drive significant improvement projects in all areas of the business, working closely with project leaders to plan and execute projects effectively.
  • Steer the internal manufacturing team to identify, develop and execute Lean pilots and projects to increase overall productivity.
  • Develop training materials and approaches, including bespoke training sessions to support teams to up-skill team members and apply to specific opportunities.
  • Engineer methods and layouts, ensuring processes are measured accurately, partnering with Quality, Technical, Mechanical Engineering and Production to maintain and develop quality and productivity levels.
  • Work with teams to continuously improve methods of manufacture and reduce costs through engineering and 5S improvements.
  • Develop work standards (SOPs) in partnership with the production team which are clearly defined, regularly monitored, and updated following any changes.
  • Drive design teams to consider the manufacturing process during product development and influence decision making to ensure realisation of optimum costs and quality.
  • Develop new methods and work standards (SOPs) in partnership with the production, quality, mechanical engineering and technical teams to ensure new products achieve business targets.


PERSONAL PROFILE

  • Experience in cultivating a sustained Continuous Improvement culture from Shop-floor to board
  • Lean/Six Sigma experience through influencing, leading activity teams and driving change
  • Experience practicing in a manufacturing / supply chain environment
  • Understanding of garment construction and textile manufacturing processes preffered
  • AutoCAD experience preferable
  • Institute of Management Services Qualification preffered
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience of training and coaching others to achieve sustained improvements
  • Confident to analyse data for trends and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Demonstrated Project Management skills to guide a team through a change project
  • A lean advocate with experience of tools such as structured problem solving, VSM, SMED, 5S, Kanban, etc.
  • Proficient in the use of Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook
