Design Intern, Knits RTW

Position Purpose

The Knits Intern will assist the Knits team with daily tasks and responsibilities.
 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Generate digital stitch artwork layouts for factories to follow and make samples on Illustrator
• Do color ups or digital mockups on Photoshop
• Drape and sew garment mock-ups for fittings and factory references
• Create paper/ digital patterns based on draped mockups
• Attend prototype fittings to assist with dressing/ take notes
• Steam & hang garments. Do minor alterations when needed.
• Hand/ machine knit/ embroider swatches for design meetings and factory reference to expand knit vocabulary and skills
• Help to assemble physical design boards for meetings
• Help to update digital boards weekly on InDesign
• Help create and maintain organization of samples, yarns, trims, and general knit area

REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to receive academic credit
• BA/Coursework in Fashion Design with some general knitwear knowledge of stitches/ yarns/ gauge
• Strong knowledge in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign
• Ability to drape on mannequin and sew on machine
• Ability to hand flat machine knit, hand knit, crochet and patternmaking is a plus
• Ability to learn quickly and retain processes
• Previous internship experience in knitwear is preferred
