Raw Materials Buyer

RAW MATERIALS BUYER - NEW YORK-BASED

The Dion Lee Raw Materials Buyer maintains the production delivery of all materials and trims to vendors in full and on time. Ensuring high standards and meticulous reporting to vendors and production team. Reporting to the Production Director.

PLANNING

• Develop and maintain an evolving and robust supplier matrix of suppliers, monitoring performance against capacity, capability, cost and COO
• Partnering with the CCO, Commercial Team and Production Director on long term forecasting and planning of core raw materials
• Strategy and planning of raw material and trim procurement pre-purchasing against production planning and managing greige commitments
• Assist fabric designer in resourcing and sourcing materials when required

PURCHASING

• Procuring including and not limited to woven, leather and trims
• Ensure consistent meticulous up-dating of PO, invoice and receiving of materials in the fastest time
• Negotiation of raw material and trim costs, to ensure the best market value and quality in compliance with company budgets and planning for future productions
• Ensure consistent costs for core items
• Negotiate payment terms on all purchasing
• Update zedonk with improved and actual costs seasonally
• Daily communication between mills and factories on ordering and delivery schedules of all materials and trims. 
• Maintain XFCTY against PO in Zedonk
• Collaborate with sourcing offices and vendors to resolve quality issues with suppliers and factories at pace
• Confidence in various international shipping methods, plan ahead to ensure the fastest and most cost-effective shipping methods
• Update Zedonk with improved and actual costs seasonally
• Maintains fabric liabilities in Zedonk seasonally

COMPLIANCE

• Establishing clear standards of bulk approval process
• Monitor salesman sample materials
• Ensure that all components and constructions used are compliant for performance, and restricted substances prior to production and end-use
• Test questionable materials and treatments in the development cycle for performance and compliance to prevent lapse in production.
• Make in-house quality trials when needed (wash, dry clean trials, seam slippage)
• Working with the materials developer, monitor the shipping of production shipping lengths and approve together all standards (quality, color against acceptable variation within production window)
• Approve all bulk materials and trim into production within 24hrs of receipt
• Maintains records and swatches of all bulk approvals for each quality and color
• Follow 3^rd party inspection guidelines to ensure the best quality and highest standards

REQUIREMENTS

• BS/BA/BFA degree
• Minimum of 5 years in textile sourcing and development or production purchasing
• Strong collaborative, organizational and interpersonal skills
• Negotiation skills
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment and extend working hours when needed
• Able to establish high standards in the procurement process
