ABOUT THE JOB

The Director of Operations is responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective management of the facility; held accountable for delivery of service, productivity, and cost through the management of people, process, and technology. The Director of Operations oversees customer logistics, shipping, receiving, inventory, and facilities departments.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee receiving, shipping, and inventory warehouse departments
  • Receiving – Ensure the accurate and timely processing of cargo containing merchandise, by sorting, verifying, scanning, moving, and signing for packages
  • Shipping – Ensure the accurate and timely processing of orders, by sorting, verifying, scanning, moving, and resolving issues for all outbound packages. 
  • Inventory – Oversee inventory control manager to ensure proper and efficient warehouse procedures
  • Manage and be main point of contact for external vendor relationships (experience with domestic and international carriers, and packaging vendor a plus)
  • Utilize federal export regulations to coordinate release of international shipments and transfers of products and information to foreign destinations regulations (experience with Fish & Wildlife a plus)
  • Assist in the coordination of import and export shipments and documentation requirements with appropriate internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist with preparing and ensuring that all import entries, including temporary import bonds, carnets are compliant and accurate
  • Assist with preparing required documents for submission of export licenses in support of applicable business sales, agreements, and contracts
  • Comply with all applicable U.S. export, import and national security regulations
  • Ensure compliance with wholesale partners routing guides with special attention to avoidance and management of chargebacks
  • Responsible for bidding, evaluating, and purchasing of materials used for distribution  
  • Oversee maintenance of all the appropriate logs and records and receiving documents. Generate shipping manifests and ensure proper signatures are obtained as needed. Utilize internet for processing customs documentations and package tracking information. Complete Bill of Lading document and ensure that all cartons are labeled properly
  • Receive and stock product, and pick, pack, prep, and ship orders to retail stores, e-commerce customers, and wholesale customers following established company and industry standard operating procedures.
  • Seek out and drive process improvements
  • Maintain effective communication with customer service, purchasing, quality and related manufacturing functions to provide a leadership role

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to engage and motivate others
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • 7 -10 Years of progressive Supply Chain / Distribution Management
  • Working knowledge of current export and import regulations
  • Strong time management and organizational skills  
  • Must be flexible with assigned shift as it may change for certain periods during the year  
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is required with strong Microsoft Excel Skills  
  • Experience processing international shipments a plus
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills & ability to work under pressure
  • Team player and strong communication skills
  • Good reasoning, conflict-management, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to develop strong inter-company & vendor relationships
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Skills
  • Knowledge of EDI a plus
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Navision and E-Ship a plus
