POSITION SUMMARY:

The Associate Designer will support the CKJ Accessories design team during all stages of the design process across the following categories: Women's bags, small leather goods, belts and seasonal capsules.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB:
  • Support design leads in concepting and executing women's accessories on a 4 season per year calendar
  • Work in collaboration with all designers in researching color, concept, material and silhouette at the start of each season
  • Sketch accessories by hand
  • Create and update lifesize specs in Adobe Illustrator
  • Design artwork layouts and make CADs in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Create specs for hardware and review technical drawings from vendors
  • Make and communicate proto corrections with our PD partners
  • Maintain daily email communication with our PD partners in New York, Asia and Europe
  • Keep sample closets and presentations spaces organized
  • Help set up presentation spaces for internal and external meetings
  • Assist designers with various tasks as needed

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Experience:
  • 2-5 years in accessory design capacity

Education:
  • Bachelor degree in design (preferably fashion design or industrial design)

Skills:
  • High efficiency and time management skills
  • Great written and verbal communication
  • Hand sketching abilities
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work as part of a team
  • Collaborative attitude
  • Flexible to work long hours and weekends when necessary to meet deadlines
  • Posses high fashion aesthetic and understanding of the accessories market
