JOB PURPOSE
To provide high quality, commercially focused, value added advice to support the execution of key digital business strategies globally.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Providing day to day legal support to the business on Digital business projects, seeking advice in local jurisdictions where appropriate and directly delivering GDPR/PECR/other data protection advice
- Reviewing, negotiating, drafting and advising on data protection issues and data protection clauses in commercial agreements including arrangements with tech and social media companies, IT agreements, services agreements and marketing agreements
- Advising on GDPR-related and PECR-related matters including cookies compliance, direct marketing, personalisation and online marketing and targeting, security breach reporting, privacy impact assessments, data subject rights requests, data transfers, data retention and GDPR compliance in business-as-usual projects (with a particular focus on marketing and online/digital activities)
- Obtaining local law advice on global data protection matters and advising the business accordingly
PERSONAL PROFILE
- Qualified solicitor with ~2-3PQE from a major firm
- Candidate should have specialised in data protection law upon qualification (either exclusively or a mixed commercial/data protection law background) and must have a strong knowledge of the GDPR, expertise and experience in Digital/online data privacy matters and a high level awareness of some other key data protection laws globally.
- Candidate should be able to operate with minimum supervision and in direct contact with internal clients and external partners/vendors.
- Experience in dealing with cross border matters involving working with foreign lawyers an advantage.
- Strong academic credentials essential
- Strong experience in data protection (specifically GDPR) and of Digital/online data privacy matters essential
- In-house experience preferable
- Knowledge of languages an advantage
