Position Summary:

The Import Logistics Manager is responsible for day-to-day logistics of the company. S/he oversees the distribution, warehousing  and transportation of goods from the manufacturer to the client.  S/he contributes to the creation and implementation of best practice logistics vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance. This also includes import and export regulations and customs classifications.  

 

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Manage all aspects of logistics functions - shipping, 3pl warehouse, freight forwarders, customs brokers, truckers, delivery. 

     

    Negotiate shipping rates and contracts with logistics providers - freight forwarders and couriers for the most competitive rates and services.

     

    In collaboration with the product development team, production team, sales team, global sourcing partners, assure on-time delivery.

     

    Manage the product delivery timeline in conjunction with the timelines of the Company’s business strategies. 

     

    Develop and manage P&L by order, projected vs. actuals. 

     

    Implement standard operating procedures and shipping procedures with global partners. 

     

    Oversee WMS and EDI interfaces to support drop shipments and EDI partners. 

     

    Review all vendor manuals, shipping and routing guidelines to ensure compliance. 

     

    Create and implement best practice logistics principles, policies and processes across the supply chain. 

     

    Ensure the integrity of inventory accuracy and manage stock movements with the help of direct reports.  

     

    Identify and resolve any inventory discrepancies and ensure inventory and system records are in agreement.   

     

    Ensure compliance with import, export, and customs regulations.

    Excellent organizational skills and attention to details

     

    Excellent oral and written communications skills

     

    Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software (Google Suite, Canva)

     

    Meet budget standards by forecasting and managing expenses

     

    Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate

     

    Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment

     

    Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines

     


 

Education and Experience:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Merchandising or related field and 4-6 years of experience in operations and logistics, retail & manufacturing industry. Prior management experience, with a focus on cost savings and efficiencies in the supply chain.

     

 

Physical Requirements:

 

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

     

    Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

     

    10 % travel may be required.
